| | Doug Kershaw Best Of Doug & Rusty Kershaw CD Doug Kershaw Discography of CDs
The Best of Doug & Rusty Kershaw collects 12 of the Kershaw brothers' recordings for Hickory Records in the late '50s, including the hit singles "Louisiana Man" and "Diggy, Diggy Lo." During this time, the group sounded like a cross between a Cajun string band and the Everly Brothers, which resulted in one of the most unique sounds of the late '50s. They might not have had many hits, and some of their material now sounds dated, but Doug and Rusty's musical interplay still sounds fresh. The Best Of isn't a perfect collection -- it's missing the hits "So Lovely, Baby," "Love Me to Pieces," and "Hey Sheriff" -- but what is here is very good, making it an adequate retrospective. ~ Thom Owens Best Of Doug & Rusty Kershaw Music Doug Kershaw Best Of Doug & Rusty Kershaw Songs Best Of Doug & Rusty Kershaw Review

Best Of Doug & Rusty Kershaw album
$14.35 THE TELLING TAKES ME HOME was originally released as two separate albums, EL CAPITAN (Philo 1016) and ALL USED UP: A SCRAPBOOK (Philo 1050).
A compilation of tracks from El Capitan and All Used Up: A Scrapbook, The Telling Takes Me Home is a quick tour around the styles of Utah Phillips, whose music and concerns incorporate several genres of folk and country (and comedy as well, this being the gentleman who gave the world "Moose-Turd Pie"). Phillips is a compelling performer, a bear-like presence who commands attention through his music. This 20-track collection could serve as a very good introduction, especially with the extensive song notes Phillips has provided (this is a very thick booklet). ~ Steven E. McDonald
Utah Phillips has crafted a fascinating show out of his life. In the course of seventy years he has labored as a dishwasher, archivist, printer, and warehouseman; soldiered in the Korean War; lived as a tramp (he is still ...

Best Of Doug & Rusty Kershaw music CDs
$13.15 A new album from Robert Cray is unlikely to contain any radical departures from his laid-back, blues-influenced R&B, sweetly stinging leads, and mellow, soulful singing. Yet Cray's records are almost always superbly executed and eminently listenable. Such is the case with 2005's TWENTY. The artist's second release for indie label Sanctuary features Cray doing what he does best with the help of a crack backing band. Rolling, punchy jams like "Does It Really Matter" and the loping, lock-step vibe of "I'm Walkin'" prove this unit's easy, appealing chemistry.
Cray's blues is often criticized for being commercially oriented. The truth is that Cray's music is much closer to '60s-era soul and R&B than it is to traditional blues. Rather than restricting himself to a 1-4-5 blues formula, he crafts ...

Best Of Doug & Rusty Kershaw CD music
$11.35 Say When is one of the hardest working bands in Boston and they are ready to release their new full-length album called IТm With the Band. This self-proclaimed party band possesses the quirky charm and unapologetic playfulness that make live shows worth the price of admission and they have the fans to prove it. They absorb musical influences ranging from the exuberant rock ballads of bands like JIMMY EAT WORLD to the rough vocals a la FOO FIGHTERS, and the speedy, raucous pop-punk numbers from early 90s ...
