| | Hank Williams, Jr One Night Stands CD Hank Williams, Jr Discography of CDs
ONE NIGHT STANDS is Bocephus in 1977, thus a lot less rowdy than you might expect. At the time, Nashville was in the throes of one of its cyclical flirtations with crossover appeal. Consequently, there's a lot of stuff here that, as they say, doth protest the smell of cow manure too much.
The arrangements are laden with shimmering electric pianos and female choruses, and some of the songs seem to have no connection with country music as anyone knows it. "All By Myself," for instance, was written by the well-known good ole' boy team of Eric Carmen and Sergei Rachmaninoff. Williams, however, is in terrific voice throughout. And when the material is good--his strikingly poetic "She's Still the Star (On the Stage of My Mind)," a honky-tonker like "Mobile Boogie"--he's as entertaining as ever.
Producers: Hank Williams, Jr., Terry Woodford, Clayton Ivey.
Personnel: Hank Williams, Jr. (vocals, guitar).

One Night Stands songs
$7.25 MAJOR MOVES is one of Hank Williams, Jr.'s rowdiest, and most proudly politically incorrect albums. The centerpiece is "The Blues Medley," a montage of three Lightning Hopkins classics featuring guest performances by Ray Charles on piano, John Lee Hooker on vocals, and the Allman Brothers' Dickie Betts on slide guitar.
Other highlights include "Attitude Adjustment," in which Hank regales listeners with stories about taking out a hated brother-in-law with a tire iron, and hitting his girlfriend in the head. "Mr. Lincoln" is a conversation with the Great Emancipator, inspired by headlines in the Nashville newspapers, in which Hank assures us that Honest Abe would have been opposed to gun control, while "Video Blues," finds Hank taken aback by then-new VCR technology and XXX-rated movies.

| | Hank Williams, Jr Montana Cafe: Original Classic Hits Vol. 21 CD (1986) Original Classic Hits 21
One Night Stands album
$5.95 By the time of 1986's Montana Cafe, Hank Williams, Jr. had established himself as a singular hitmaking country artist, long out of his father's shadow. This allowed Bocephus to loosen up his outlaw image a bit, making this is a happier album because of it. Among the ten tracks are plenty of upbeat hits, including "Country State of Mind," "Mind Your Own Business" featuring Reba McEntire and Willie Nelson, and what would become Hank Jr.'s signature song, "My Name Is Bocephus." ~ Al Campbell

One Night Stands CD music
$5.19 This is where Hank Williams Jr. solidified the hard-hitting style he would become known for, perhaps inspired by the pioneering outlaw country records Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings had begun making a couple of years earlier. Charlie Daniels and the Marshall Tucker Band's Toy Caldwell help out here, and you can hear Williams's trademark mix of country and Southern rock taking shape on his cover of the Tucker Band's classic "Can't You See." And while he was no longer singing in his father's shadow, he continues to reference the late country icon on songs like "Living Proof," ...

One Night Stands songs
$24.25 This delightful four-CD box set contains a smorgasbord of early- to mid-20th century three- and four-piece jazz combos, mostly ad hoc ensembles formed just for the pure pleasure of playing. Consequently, the sides heard here, from groups like Benny Goodman's groundbreaking multi-racial quartet, featuring pianist Teddy Wilson and Lionel Hampton on vibes, and the early-'40s Sidney Bechet-Muggsy Spanier Big Four, are relaxed, swinging, and sometimes revelatory, unearthing treasures like Clarence Williams' Washboard Band's "Whip Me With Plenty of Love" as well as renowned jazz pianist Willie "The Lion" Smith's "Swing, Brother, Swing."

| | Travis Tritt Strong Enough CD (2002)
One Night Stands album
$6.05 With 2002's STRONG ENOUGH, Travis Tritt continues building on the success of his 2000 comeback DOWN THE ROAD I GO. Although his acceptance into the inner sanctum of Music Row remains a foregone conclusion, Tritt continues to cling to the Waylon-inspired country-rock roots that initially made Nashville decision-makers wary of the long-haired, leather-clad maverick who arrived on the scene in the early '90s. Whether he's doling out "Strong Enough To Be Your Man," (an answer song to Sheryl Crow's 1993 smash "Strong Enough"), or delivering the Southern boogie of "Time To Get Crazy," this Georgia native continues to dally with the unconventional (for mainstream country, that is).
Other highlights include "I Can't Seem To Get Over You" a chugging ...
