| | Song Of The Hills: Instrumental Impressions Of Appalachian Classics CD
Featuring an all-star cast of traditional folk musicians including Eric Weisberg, Jay Ungar, Molly Mason, Tony Trischka, Norman Blake, and John Doan, Song of the Hills is composed of light and airy interpretations of old-time American music. Fiddle, flatpicked guitar, Dobro, and subtle orchestration run through most songs, giving a rich full sound on compositions ranging from spirituals to barn dances. Although the performances are clean and flawless, it is almost a shame to see such brilliant musicians slowed to a rather bland pace. While not for the most die-hard bluegrass and old-timey aficionados, the album is a gentle walk through pleasant versions of these comfortable tunes. ~ Zac Johnson

$10.15 Building for a decade this debut album combines my favorites with my son's. This is the endorphin raising music we personally keep coming back to, time after time /year after year, for its rhythmic interest, lyrical highs and shear delight. I have been a player for longer than I'll admit. The advent of keyboards (so many instruments, so little time) got me back to playing regularly which brought new techniques and a widening horizon. Always a two fisted player, in my earlier days it was true that I jogged for peace-of-mind and played for exercise.Dane Pribbeno (younger son.) I'm a multi-instrument student (trumpet in marching band, orchestra & wind ensemble, piano and particularly any of four guitars.)
