TIME is a pivotal album for Steeleye Span. Maddy Prior's last recording after over two decades as the lead singer and focal point of the long-lived British folk-rock supergroup, TIME also reintroduces her replacement, Gay Woods, who had sung on the group's first album, HARK! THE VILLAGE WAIT, back in 1970. The two women harmonize beautifully throughout these 11 tracks, with the strong, sure support of longtime band members Peter Knight and Bob Johnson. The duo of Woods and Prior create a vocal sound that's unlike anything else in traditional-style British folk music.
