| | Cruisin' With Porky Chedwick CD (3 Customer Reviews)
A compilation of heavyweight doo-wop groups including the Flamingos, the Spaniels, the Del Vikings, the Skyliners, Harvey & the Moonglows, and Joe Turner -- artists played by Porky Chedwick back in the day when he was Pittsburgh's hottest DJ. A short CD consisting of only 12 tracks (ten if you don't count "Porky's Intro" and "Porky's Theme"). One small hiccup, "Those Oldies but Goodies (Remind Me of You)," is not the most popular version by Little Caesar & the Romans but a good-to-go rendition by Nino & the Ebbtides. The airwave jewels include the Moonglows' "The Ten Commandments of Love," Joe Turner's "Flip Flop and Fly," and the Marcels' incredible "Blue Moon." ~ Andrew Hamilton Cruisin' With Porky Chedwick Music Cruisin' With Porky Chedwick Songs | 1. | Porky Intro/Theme |

| Cruisin' With Porky Chedwick Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) Grew up with Porky I grew up in my teen years with Porky on the radio. He played all the "Golden Oldies" It was great to go to a dance that Porky was at and hear the good tunes. This CD brings back a lot of good memories of the '50's. We had a good time in the 'burgh with good music. Submitted by bar8143 (Massillon, Oh, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Remember 50's radio??? Late in the 1950's FM radio was new. It featured lots of boring stuff for teens, like talk shows and Classical music. Then Pittsburgh got WAMO radio!! It was Rock and Roll as we liked it. Lots of performers & groups (i.e. Black acts)who were seldom played on am radio. WAMO gave us those tunes presented by the "Daddy-o of the Radio", Porky Chedwick.
Finally, the greatest Doo Wop and R&B songs broadcast for us to hear! Porky added his own fun talk and locally produced commercials which often featured performances by some of the same artists (the Skyliners, the Del Vikings and the Marcels). How could we forget great sponsors such as: Mission Beverage, Bruno's Sunoco, Abreola Brothers Auto Parts and the Woodland Drive-in Theatre?
CRUISIN' WITH PORKY CHEDWICK recreates those radio shows with "the Bossman, Porky" or "Pork the Tork" ("I've got more lines than the phone company") on microphone and the same commercials between great oldies.
This CD is a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Try to explain it to your kids.

Pork The Torque This man single handedly captured the heart and soul of the "Sounds of the Oldies. I have met Porky and he truly is aman who believed in an Idea and lived that dream his whole life.

Cruisin' With Porky Chedwick CD music
$8.25 The predecessors of hip-hop MCs or just thwarted rock & rollers with giddy natures? Early rock & roll DJs -- heirs to the trailblazing, early-'50s R&B and blues DJs in Memphis and Nashville -- could make a small claim to both labels. To millions of '50s teens, at least, they offered salvation from a increasingly staid world of modern kitchen appliances and sock hops. Culminating with the nationwide fame of Alan Freed and given a major blow by his subsequent indictment during the payola scandal, early ...
