HERE WE ARE AGAIN is the fourth--and next to last--album by the original lineup of Country Joe and the Fish. While the group would reunite every so often over the next few decades, this is one of the highlights of their career. The group's multi-songwriter democracy had displayed an admirable eclecticism on the first three albums, but the results often sounded scattershot. While that wide-ranging spirit is all over HERE WE ARE AGAIN, the individual songs somehow cohere into a more satisfying whole.
The addition of a horn section recruited from Count Basie's orchestra adds a jazz/R&B edge to the folk-rock-based songs, a conceit that works better than it might sound. Country Joe McDonald and Barry "The Fish" Melton largely avoid topical material in favor of witty tunes about love and life, making HERE WE ARE AGAIN the least dated of Country Joe and the Fish's original albums.

Country Joe & The Fish Here We Are Again Songs Here We Are Again Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Country Joe & The Fish-Here We Are Again An excellently produced effort and a fine testimony in expanding musically and lyrically in that Country Joe and The Fish open the sessions up to guest musicians who help expand the musical direction. Mark Kapner, Dave Getz and Peter Albin all make incredible contributions with the existing line up of the original memebers of Country Joe and The Fish and the songs definitelty reflect natural expermintation and evolution, with the band's fourth studio release. Songs include "Here I Go Again," "Donovan's Reef," more examples of Barry Melton's blues influences with "Crystal Blues," the beautifully done "Maria," which showcases Kapner's keyboard work, and "Doctor Of Electricity." Country Joe & The Fish do not disappoint on this one and the expansion of sound provides great depth,in great detail, that there were no limits in terms of the creative studio ingenuity that solidified the band's reputation of truely innovative classic recordings during the Sixties. This CD is evidence of the band's willingness to break new ground musically while remaining true to the core element of their sound cpatured on the earlier CJ Fish releases. | | Neil Young On The Beach CD (1974) Remastered
Here We Are Again album
$8.99 After working his way through loss and chaos on the brilliant TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT (recorded in 1973, but not released until 1975), Neil Young deftly exorcised any lingering demons with 1974's ON THE BEACH. The album opens with the saunter of the aptly titled "Walk On," followed by the utterly gorgeous, Wurlitzer-tinged "See the Sky about to Rain."
The set also features a trio of scathing songs--"Revolution Blues," "Vampire Blues," and "Ambulance Blues"--that address issues important to Young, both social and personal. It is good to hear Young back with such bite and vitriol, especially after the broken desperation of TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT. But while ON THE BEACH is edgy and deeply felt, it also manages to sound liberating ...

Here We Are Again songs
$13.89 Drawn from the two albums that Eliza Carthy and Nancy Kerr made as a duo at the start of their careers in 1993 and 1995 (actually drawn far more from Shape of Scrape than Eliza Carthy & Nancy Kerr, their debut), this does offer some new pieces: two from Carthy -- "Fen" and "3/2 Hornpipes" (not recorded with Kerr, but musicians she performs with currently) -- while Kerr offers "Reel du Pendu" and "Port in Brandy," both of which have appeared on other albums of hers, in addition to a new version of "Dance to Your Daddy/The Flaming Drones." It's perhaps apt that they should be allowed to add the new stuff as a counterweight to the very young selves who recorded those two duet albums. However, even as teenagers, they were very accomplished -- listen to "Waterloo Fair/Speed the Plough" to hear just how good. While there are some very well-known pieces ("Growing [The Trees They Do Grow High]" and "Bonnie Light Horseman"), the majority of the material shows a depth of knowledge ...

$9.35 Since his younger age, Richard (otherwise known as Ozny) had a great natural interest in music. It was in his ninth year of age that he began to receive piano lessons with classical formation. At recital, he managed to receive Superior ratings from the Royal Schools of Music, around the same time he started to compose songs in a semi-classical Rock style. His desire for creativity led him to compose music that would start catching the attention of his peers. Friends, family and teachers encourged his art, while some others expressed ...
