This is a peculiar listen. One gets the distinct feeling that there is a message being advanced here, but it's nebulous at best. Is Causey Way a cult, or do they simply borrow the trappings of computer-age coltishness and stitch them into their new wave-ish rock quilt. Though certainly not the first indie rock band to do that, Causey Way adds a few flourishes, and a different flavor icing to that cake. Artsy cultishness aside, Causey Vs. Everything's greatest strength -- above the Nico meets B-52's female vocals, Devo-esque keyboards, and creepy surf guitar (think Klaus Flouride of the Dead Kennedys) -- is the locked-down rhythm section; the sharply focused, oddly hard-rocking drumming. And what's best about that is the perfectly organic quality of the drums. One often finds bands of this ilk -- those that hearken back to the repetitive, stiff droning of Krautrock -- giving in, usually due to inability, to synthetic drumming, whether computer generated or via a drum machine. Causey Way, thankfully, is blessed in that area. It's a creepy record; weirdness certainly abounds. ~ Patrick Kennedy
Personnel includes: Causey, Red Causey, The Truth.
Alternative Press (5/01, p.74) - 3 out of 5 - "...There isn't a bum track on here....Amid all the instrumental fun, the faux-jaded female singing and the irritating religious-cult lyrical shtick stands out like a white nudist at a Nation of Islam convention..." Magnet (4-5/01, p.70) - "...Blaring, keys-only primitive-industrial stomps and raging Fugazi guitarcore...fused with demonic fervor..." CMJ (1/22/01, p.4) - "...An amazingly catchy pop-rock record..." Causey vs. Everything Music Causey Way Causey vs. Everything Songs Causey vs. Everything Music Causey vs. Everything Review

Purchase Causey vs. Everything CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Bob Dylan Christmas In The Heart CD (2009)
Causey vs. Everything album
$10.09 After the initial shock fades, the existence of CHRISTMAS IN THE HEART seems perhaps inevitable. After all, the thing Bob Dylan loves most of all are songs that are handed down from generation to generation, songs that are part of the American fabric, songs so common they never seem to have been written. These are the songs Dylan chooses to sing on CHRISTMAS IN THE HEART, a cheerfully old-fashioned holiday album from its Norman Rockwell-esque cover to its joyous backing vocals. Apart from ...

Causey vs. Everything CD music
$11.35 NIGHT CASTLE appears just in time for the big 2009 holiday season but don't be fooled: this isn't a Christmas album, even if it's sonically indistinguishable from Trans-Siberian Orchestra's other seasonal releases, and the fact that it's been dubbed "Capra-esque" certainly brings it within the realm of the season. NIGHT CASTLE brims with all the drama, pomp, and circumstance of Trans-Siberian Orchestra's other records ...

| | Shakira She Wolf CD (2009)
Causey vs. Everything songs
$11.18 Last time around, Shakira touched upon so many styles she couldn't be contained on one album, splitting Oral Fixation in two. This time, she focuses on one sound only: a pulsating electro-disco that crosses all boundaries and welcomes all nationalities. Such concentration behooves Shakira, freeing her to release her inner She Wolf, a wild wacko who's as coo coo as she is carnal. And for as sexy as Shakira is -- crucially, her music is sexy too -- what really gives She Wolf its bite is her inspired nuttiness, how she laments that Matt Damon's not meant for her, and wishes her ex-lover and his new girl a horrible vacation where the room smells and the toilet doesn't flush. "Darling, it is no joke, this is lycanthropy," she sings on the title track with no small trace of humor, and this blend of cheerful weirdness and sick beats -- often supplied ...
| | Belin All The Way In CDs (2009) With DVD
Causey vs. Everything album
$13.75 At times, it was hard to figure out whether Berlin were an average synth pop band trying to carve out their own niche or just a mediocre rock band jumping on the new wave bandwagon. Sure, they had some good singles and radio hits, but as an album band, they left a lot to be desired. Terri Nunn was beautiful and sexy, but it seemed like Berlin wanted to be more than just a commercial band with a hot vocalist: they seemed to be striving for greatness but settled for "that'll do." Unfortunately, they never had a chance to really prove themselves, breaking up after their commercially disappointing Count Three & Pray album, released in 1986. Nunn has kept the Berlin name alive over the years, touring with a different group of musicians and playing all the hits while releasing the occasional studio ...

Causey vs. Everything songs
$12.65 This live recording of Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band was taken from a London date during one of the more fierce peaks of the band's existence, the same period that produced the overlooked classic masterpiece Clear Spot. Though the session was intended to produce a live album for Virgin, the release never materialized, though the versions of "Mirror Man" and "Upon the Me Oh My" came out of the 1975 Virgin sampler V. Thanks to the obscure Portuguese imprint Movie Play Gold, highlights from the concert made it onto CD at a concise 40 minutes. The disc features nine tracks of full-tilt Magic Band mayhem on "Full Moon Hot Sun," "Sugar Bowl," "Crazy Little Thing," "This Is the Day," "New Electric Ride," as well as older '60s classics like "Abba Zabba" and "Peaches." The CD has exceptional sound quality, while some other live Captain Beefheart from the same period fares a little rough in recording quality. This comes highly recommended as an opportunity to hear the Magic Band at an all-time high. ~ Skip Jansen
First, total accountability: this is not "the" Magic Band. This is the group Don Van Vliet assembled with the help of his manager when the original Magic Band had literally walked out on him over financial disputes. No Zoot Horn Rollo or Winged-Eel Fingerling here, folks. This tour was in support of Unconditionally Guaranteed, it and ...
