One of the heaviest records to come out in 1997, maybe even the heaviest of the 1990s. Logical Nonsense's Expand the Hive re-established the faith in all those who have given up on hardcore. The music is fueled with apocalyptic, anti-establishment anthems going with samples that are layered with our eventual doomsday. Not the most optimistic bunch, but their bleakness helps capture listeners' attention and warn them that something has to be done with everything wrong in the world. If these guys weren't in a band they would probably be inflicting some serious property damage. ~ Mike DaRonco

HardcoreMagnet (11-12/97, p.71) - "To restore Jello Biafra's faith in hardcore is no small feat. Nor is keeping pace with these 15 breakneck sprints through extreme metal. But Logical Nonsense pulls them both off and never once gets winded..." Logical Nonsense Expand The Hive Songs Expand The Hive Review

| | Shakira She Wolf CD (2009)
Expand The Hive CD music
$14.39 Shakira's brand new English album She Wolf is an uptempo pop album. It is all about synthesizers and electronic concepts, all mixed with the world sounds that we are used to from Shakira.. sounds from countries like India, the Middle East and her home country of Colombia. She Wolf features a predominantly English track list with a follow up album of new and unique repertoire in Spanish to come in 2010. The title track "She-Wolf " boasts the infectious and energizing sound that made Shakira a household name, with a slightly more dancey/ electronic beat (about 125 beats per minute). Though most tracks on the upcoming album will be in English, Shakira chose to service the Spanish version of the first single, "Loba", two weeks before the English single is launched.

Expand The Hive CD music
$16.65 Like its predecessor, this is an assortment of rare tracks from Bob Shad's Time, Brent, Shad, and Warner labels, all recorded from 1958-1961. Among the 25 tracks are just a couple of contributors that most oldies rock fans might recognize: the Bell Notes, famous for "I've Had It" (not here, though three of their other tracks are), and Skip & Flip, who had hits with "Cherry Pie" and "It Was I" (though they're represented here by a different single, "Fancy Nancy"). Otherwise it's a real grab bag of obscurities, musically like something you might shovel up if you were looking through the dime-a-single bin in the early '60s, though these happen to all be from the same family of labels. Like many scrappy indies of the time, Bob Shad's imprints ...

Expand The Hive album
$9.99 Since 2002 it has been studio album, live album, studio album, live album for KMFDM -- so when did they become Phish? Good news for fans: WWIII Tour 2003 doesn't duplicate 2002's Sturm & Drang Tour. Instead, it features the fan favorites Sturm & Drang missed and most of 2003's WWIII. You'd think that WWIII's acerbic look at the Bush administration would turn into angry chaos at this Chicago show, but all the edges are sanded off by overdubbing (either that or KMFDM is one of the most in tune, mistake-free live bands ever). Getting rid of the lesser tracks from WWIII makes this a better way to hear that album's material, and tracks like "Revenge" and "Blackball" sound more absolute here. Great to hear the mighty siren Lucia Cifarelli get her chance at "Juke Joint Jezebel" and "Brute," and you've yet to hear a KMFDM record so punchy and in your face. The silly band-introducing song "Intro" is more fun live than in the studio and "A Drug Against War" brings ...

Expand The Hive music CDs
$12.79 A nice set of North African music, Oriental Moods -- From Marrakech to Cairo includes pieces from Palestinian, Egyptian, Algerian, Moroccan, Kurdish, and Iranian artists -- at least a handful of whom are living abroad in Europe. The music is quite good throughout and though the performers might not be terribly big on the world music scene, they tend to be quite good at what they do. The album opens with a bit of relatively modern Egyptian ...
