| | Michael Buble It's Time CD (2005)
Yodels From Switzerland CD music
$11.65 Michael Buble's third major US release (including the mostly live COME FLY WITH ME) stays on message--this young Canadian loves the lush, swaying music of his parents' and grandparents' generations. Buble's albums, however, are much more than mere back-in-the-day exercises. The production and arranging of David Foster (Celine Dion, Josh Groban) is eclectic in a way that firmly places the tunes at the dawn of the 21st century, and, more importantly, Buble possesses the chops and sense of style to re-imagine the adult-contemporary vocal genre in a distinctive manner. In addition to standards by Gershwin and Porter, Buble embraces a variety of sounds, from Motown ("How Sweet It Is") to bossa nova ("Quando, Quando, Quando" with Nelly Furtado) to the Beatles ("Can't Buy Me Love" with a "She Loves You" tag). With his smooth croon and charming persona, Buble is a natural performer, and, for fans of fearlessly romantic and infectiously swinging music, IT'S TIME is a sure bet.
Although it took more than a year of concerts and promotional appearances, Michael Bublé's 2003 debut disc of swinging pop standards finally ascended the Billboard album chart and landed at number 47. That peak may not seem impressive at ...

Yodels From Switzerland CD music
$18.29 The Guitar Diaries is the latest (and sadly, the final) LNR release. But, boy, have we got a treat in store for you! Stefan Rosqvist is a highly respected guitarist who hails from Helsingborg in Sweden. He was last heard on 2007's The Alchemists II with the affecting 'At Last' (w/Bo Eriksson). His solo album has been a long time in the coming, but we think it was worth it.Reuniting with respected Swedish session guitarist, Bo Eriksson (Ominox), Stefan has moulded an incredible CD full of some of the most haunting, powerful, joyous and heartbreaking instrumental melodies you're likely to hear in quite some time. In collaboration with the aforementioned Eriksson - not to mention ...
| | Elvenking Two Tragedy Poets...And A Caravan Of Weird Figures CD (2008)
Yodels From Switzerland music CDs
$13.25 Italy's Elvenking haven't been afraid to try different things on different albums. Their 2006 release Winter's Wake is best described as power metal/progressive metal with a strong folk influence, but their 2008 recording Two Tragic Poets and a Caravan of Weird Figures offers an unlikely mixture of folk metal and pop-metal. The interesting thing is that this CD finds Elvenking using more acoustic instruments on the one hand, but being more pop-minded on the other hand. How pop-minded? The album even includes a cover of Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven Is a Place on Earth," which receives a very Bon Jovi-influenced makeover -- and the tune works enjoyably well as pop-metal. Bon Jovi is not only an influence on the Carlisle cover, but on much of the original material as well. Of course, one rarely hears the name Bon Jovi used in connection with a folk metal disc, ...
