Purchase Itself CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Michael Buble Crazy Love CD (2009)
Itself album
$14.49 Buoyed by the popularity of the hit contemporary pop ballad "Home," singer Michael Bublé's 2005 album, IT'S TIME, clearly positioned the vocalist as the preeminent neo-crooner of his generation. Easily the singer's most stylistically wide-ranging album so far, 2009's CRAZY LOVE is also one of his brightest, poppiest, and most fun. Bublé kicks things off with the theatrical, epic ballad "Cry Me a River" and proceeds to milk the tune with burnished breath, eking out the drama line by line. It's over the top for sure, but Bublé takes you to the edge of the cliff, prepares ...

| | 30 Seconds To Mars This Is War CD (2009)
Itself album
$12.24 On This Is War, 30 Seconds to Mars shift their music with the shifting times, adopting a hybrid of the Killers' retro new wave and My Chemical Romance's gothic prog, winding up with a sound that suits their stance. Producers Steve Lillywhite and Flood, both veterans of U2, do give This Is War an appropriately epic scale, helping to bring into focus this mix of synth rock, metal, and prog flavors with Auto-Tuned vocals, gurgling synthesized loops, Kanye cameos, and a children's choir on almost every other song. This move toward goth-glam requires 30 Seconds to emphasize hooks and gives them aural variety, which makes this their ...

| | Richard Betts Highway Call CD (1974) Remastered
Itself album
$7.35 After the runaway success of the Allman Brothers' classic Brothers and Sisters LP -- an album on which Dickey Betts virtually architected the open loping country sound with his newly found singing voice and easy, slimmed down guitar style -- the guitarist decided to try his hand at a solo album. Highway Call is, in essence, the second chapter in Betts finding his own voice as not only a singer, but also as a songwriter as well. At a brief half-hour in length, Highway Call is nonetheless an emotionally powerful slice of small country life offered with a vast emotional landscape. The tone is nostalgic in that each of the songs here reflects memory and the yearning for a simpler, less cluttered life lived in the open spaces, away from the chaotic roil of rock stardom and all of its trappings. The title track reflects an acceptance of Betts' life as an itinerant musician, destined to play out his hand on the road. There isn't a hint of regret in the ringing, slippery guitars and harmony vocals, but there is a sense that life could have been different. On "Let Nature Sing," Betts calls forth the spirits of America, from its rock and crags, its lakes and panoramic vistas, and from the ghosts of the people who've traipsed through Betts' life, leaving an emotional and indelible impression upon him. Each song here, such as "Rain," with its sideways pedal steel, or "Long Time Gone," with its runaway slide, or even the aforementioned "Let Nature Sing," with ...

$6.29 | | Natalie Imbruglia Counting Down The Days CD (2005) Import
Itself songs
$11.65 Third album from the antipodean beauty believes her new disc Counting Down the Days completely encapsulates her upbeat mood, which she attributes to the Silverchair front man whom she married in 2003 after a four-year courtship. The three-year recording session is in marked contrast to her second album, White Lilies Island, which was released in 2001 and heavily influenced by the deep depression she was suffering from. She says, 'My new album, which Dan and I worked on together, is proof that I'm in a good place. 'The songs refer to Dan because he's been at the forefront of my mind during the three-year recording process. This is evidence of how happy I've been - and remain. It's all uplifting music.' 12 tracks in total including the first single, 'Shiver'. BMG. 2005.
Arguably the best of the plethora of soap stars turned pop stars, Natalie Imbruglia appears to have performed a rather frustrating musical U-turn for her third album. Whereas her difficult but underrated sophomore effort understandably attempted to break away from the commercial acoustic pop sound that saw "Torn" become one of the biggest singles of the '90s, Counting Down the Days actively embraces it. Whether this is a conscious decision to rekindle her ...
