By combining the barely containable fury of Korn and the Deftones with the artful progressiveness of Tool, Spineshank should have no problem attracting the aforementioned band's audiences with their debut release, Strictly Diesel. Singer Johnny Santos is a disciple of the talk/scream/sing style that many metal bands of the late '90s use, while the musicians have no problem creating loopy, elastic rock. But Spineshank isn't a direct ripoff of their influences; it's hard to think of any band today that would have had the guts to redo the Beatles' classic "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" as a distorted, heavy dirge. The lyrics for their original songs usually reflect how hardships in their lives had made them stronger, as in the track "Where We Fall," while electronics seep into the music throughout (thanks to programmer Josh Abraham, who's worked previously with Limp Bizkit and Orgy). Fans of angst metal will have no problem latching onto such tracks as "Intake," "Stovebox," "28," and the title track. ~ Greg Prato

Spineshank Strictly Diesel Songs Strictly Diesel Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) Unbelivable Talent This CD is the present definition of agro and industrial metal. Santos has a very unique style of singing his lyrics to the beat of the music. This band may have disbanded but they proved to be a very talented and amazing band. I even place them above other bands such as Mudvayne or Static-X at times and throughout the course of their activness they should've gained more respect, but since everyone is into 50 Cent and other (c)rap / rap, they didn't. Spineshank is a talent that is nigh impossible to top. Submitted by TyBeauvais (Appleton, WI) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Not a waste of money This CD while it slightly resembles the music style of slipknot at mudvayne, any true lover could tell the difference unlike some people who rated this cd who shall remain nameless (warriorbolo) this cd definetly stands out from the rest of their albums and is a highly recommended buy! "Are you readyyyy?!" With that question--an inquiry that begins as a growl and ends as a scream--Jonathan Davis provides a fitting beginning to this searing collection of relentless, metallicized thrash/funk. His question is well-posed; this is not music for the faint of heart. Producer Ross Robinson and Korn have found a formula that works: start with a layer of fuzz-soaked guitar, add some big beats, and finish the whole construct off with a healthy dose of Davis's tortured vocals.
This is dark music, scary music. It's also occasionally funky music. "Ball Tongue," with its stop/start ...

| | Keel Right To Rock CD (1985)
Strictly Diesel music CDs
$9.15 Keel's second album, 1985's The Right to Rock, may as well have been their first. Hardly anyone had noticed the fledgling hair metal outfit's first effort of a year earlier, but one of the ones who did happened to be Kiss legend Gene Simmons, who must have seen dollar signs where others could not when he decided to take the band under his bat-wing. For their part, Keel couldn't have asked for a more motivated Svengali to mould their second album, which, was not only produced by Simmons himself, but saw the band's logo re-fashioned into a simple, angular design coincidentally reminiscent of -- who else? -- Kiss. As to its actual contents, The Right to Rock was of course led off by the very title track that would become Keel's trademark, bust down the doors to MTV rotation, and ultimately endure as their biggest hit. And with good reason, for as irrepressibly anthemic as it was colossally stupid, the song was nevertheless perfectly tailored to the emerging pop-metal market; instantly landing Keel their no doubt dreamt of full-page spreads in Circus magazine, and, in the eyes of their hairspray 'n' spandex-loving crowd, unofficially ...
