(7 Customer Reviews)
Machine Head: Robb Flynn (vocals, guitar); Logan Mader (guitar); Adam Duce (bass, background vocals); Dave McClain (drums). Recorded at The Plant, Sausalito, California and Hyde Street, San Francisco, California. All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology. The title isn't really a joke, actually. Machine Head do take some chances on their second album, The More Things Change..., expanding their brutal attack with gothic flourishes and prog rock pretensions without ever abandoning their blistering thrash metal roots. And that's good -- few bands have the appealing, gut-level visceral attack of Machine Head and The More Things Change... proves they are among the more vital metal bands of the latter half of the '90s. ~ Stephen Thomas ErlewineQ (5/97, p.124) - 3 Stars (out of 5) - "...THE MORE THINGS CHANGE...is dominated by speed-of-light drumming, droning sub-sonic bass and colossal wedges of heavyweight maltreated guitars....the sound of a dentist's drill midway through the album almost offering a calming influence." Kerrang (Magazine) (p.53) - "[T]he album was a typically seething and jaw-breaking affair..." More Things Change... Music Machine Head More Things Change... Songs More Things Change... Ferocious Forget everything you've heard about the "sophmore slump". Machine Head's second album is more ferocious than the debut. And that's saying alot. This album almost has a punk edge to it making it scream from the speakers! Oh, and Dave McClain on the skins...nobody does it better. Submitted by Trav (Battle Creek, MI) Was This Review Helpful? More Things Change...
$6.39 The Corrs: Jim Corr (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Sharon Corr (vocals, violin); Andrea Corr (vocals, tin whistle); Caroline Corr (vocals, drums, bodhran, percussion). Recorded at Ardmore Studios in Dublin, Ireland in January 2002. You knew the Corrs had made it when they played the final JFK Awards ceremony of the Clinton administration. Playing it would have been achievement enough, but their status as a happening thing was cemented at the end of the ceremony, during the encores, when everybody was taking their final bows. ...

$24.95 [This Isn't Here] really is gorgeous. Split evenly between the country-ish acoustic glide of Rubber Soul and the electric power-pop template of Revolver, it's like some missing Beatles album made in between. Like that band, Celia crafts supremely sophisticated chord changes, guitar licks and three-part harmonies that still sound so natural, you don't even notice. It's sheer musical alchemy that pop songs as beautiful, complex and emotionally resonant as "Best Thing Ever" are so radio-ready they would sound ideal on ...
| | Firewind Allegiance CD (2006) (Import) Enhanced CD
More Things Change...
$14.55 This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Firewind: Apollo Papathanasio (vocals); Gus G. (guitar); Bob Katsionis (keyboards); Petros Christo (bass guitar); Mark Cross (drums). Hailing from Greece, this metal quintet boasts a singer with the decidedly god-like name of Apollo Papathanasio and a storehouse of fiery musical ideas, with the aggressive shredding of the band's resident guitar genius, Gus G., very much to the fore. The resulting sound is as thunderous and powerful as the ire shot down from Mount Olympus. In many cases, Gen-X and Gen-Y bands of the '90s and 2000s have really poured on the irony when acknowledging the '70s or '80s. If Gen-X or Gen-Y musicians who sound a lot like Linkin Park or Incubus decide to play a Bon Jovi cover on-stage, they are likely to do it in a very ironic fashion. But irony has not been much of a factor in the power metal revival movement; in fact, most of the ...
