| | Madball Set It Off CD Madball Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
The first Madball release for Roadrunner Records, Set It Off is a document of this hardcore outfit at their most menacing, both musically and lyrically. With Freddy Cricien on vocals, Vinnie Stigma and Matt Henderson on guitar, Will Shepler on drums, and bassist Hoya rounding out the rhythm section, these NY hardcore specialists made a huge sound that was undeniably loud, rude, and confrontational. The music underground praised Madball for the unforgiving brutality and skill displayed on this 1994 offering that includes standouts like the bone-crunching "Face to Face," "Never Had It," and "Across Your Face." Slower than many familiar hardcore standards, the songs on Set It Off maintain a bruising standard with their raw lyrics and thick guitar grooves. Just another in a long list of quality Madball offerings, Set It Off should satisfy even casual fans of New York hardcore. ~ Vincent JeffriesNME (Magazine) (9/17/94, p.57) - 6 - Good - "...If you can't get enough of Rollins treating you with contempt then Madball are equally happy to spit on your grave and call you bad names..." | | Madball Hold It Down CD (2000)
Set It Off CD music
$10.39 The 21st century version of Madball strays only a little on Hold It Down, the New York hardcore outfit's first release for Epitaph Records. In the many years since their inception, the band's sound managed to evolve a bit, and careful scrutiny of each disc leading to this 2000 offering will reveal increasingly modern aggro and even hip-hop influences. The caustic vocal approach of Freddy Cricien remained constant and threatening, especially with his updated urban inflections, and of course the music remained brutal, if just a little slower. On Hold It Down, the shorter-than-average song lengths maintain a little old-school tradition, but some '80s NY hardcore purists will definitely consider this a plodding effort. Each groove has a sticky nu-metal flavor that fortunately gets hardened properly by Cricien's pummeling vocal assaults. The he-man posturing goes over the top on a few tracks, like "Show No Fear," but considering this group's impressive ...

| | Madball Droppin' Many Suckers CD (1995)
Set It Off album
$8.99 New York hardcore project Madball was first put together years before this debut EP hit record-store shelves, but it was still the first thing many heard from or about this Agnostic Front side project. Considering the group's close relation to one of hardcore's most essential artists, it is hardly a surprise that Droppin' Many Suckers packs a mean punch. The 1994 offering has all the force one would expect from an experienced, committed hardcore outfit. "Spit on Your Grave" starts things off on a high note with its heavy riffing and urgent vocals. Other standouts include "We Should Care," "Ready to Fight," and "Step on You," with its killer rock groove offsetting vocalist Freddy Cricien's gruff rasp. A solid first outing, Droppin' Many Suckers is vintage hardcore delivered ...

Set It Off songs
$15.65 Initial pressings of THROUGH THE ASHES OF EMPIRES include a bonus disc.
On THROUGH THE ASHES OF EMPIRES, Machine Head delivers another potent dose of the group's signature blend of late-1980s thrash and Pantera-inspired alt-metal. This time around, though, the band takes frequent musical interludes from the sonic onslaught--a tinkling toy piano provides "Left Unfinished" with a nicely eerie, horror-film intro, while "Wipe Away the Tears" features a Black Flag-style spoken rant. In a few places, the ordinarily pummeling juggernaut that is Machine Head even gets downright melodic--"Shades of Night," for example, features vocal harmonies would fit right in on an Incubus disc. Longtime fans need not worry, though--THROUGH THE ASHES OF EMPIRES provides enough angst-laden growls and six-string shredding to keep heads banging, machine or otherwise.
Asian edition of the alternative metal act's 2003 album. Ten tracks including, 'Imperium', 'Bite The Bullet', & 'Left Unfinished'. Roadrunner.
Recorded at Sharkbite Studios, Oakland, California ...
| | Anthrax Music Of Mass Destruction CD (2004)
Set It Off album
$15.99 Vocalist John Bush, a tireless frontman, passionately leads the charge through classics ("Caught in a Mosh," "I Am the Law") and rips through newer material ("Safe Home," "Nobody Knows Anything"). Filling the long-standing vacancy in the group, lead guitarist Rob Caggiano is a deadly musical weapon. Charlie Benante remains the most underrated drummer in metal, while rock-solid rhythm guitarist Scott Ian thrashes through a furious set, working the fans into a frenzy with his trademark stomping moves. And, of course, Frank Bello's aggressive bass playing and spot-on vocal harmonies are key elements of the enduring Anthrax sound. (Note: The companion DVD offers an extended set list, band-produced segments, and an interview with famed comic-book illustrator and Anthrax album-cover artist Alex Ross.)
Metal legends Anthrax in their first-ever live performance on DVD, also including a bonus CD of the Taking the Music Back Tour concert from Chicago's Metro in December of 2003. Includes top classics. The DVD also includes band member interviews, a featurette with famed comic designer Alex Ross, "What Doesn't Die" music video (Director's Cut) and the making-of the video.
Unjustly relegated to B-list status in the past, Anthrax enjoyed a comeback of sorts during 2003, while supporting the album WE'VE COME FOR YOU ALL. Launching a successful tour, the New York metal veterans commemorated their ...
