Johnson (piano). Liner Note Author: Chris Smith . Recording information: NY, NY (03/09/1928-05/08/1929); San Antonio, TX (03/09/1928-05/08/1929). The period of time covered in the fourth of seven Lonnie Johnson Document CDs found the guitarist/singer being well-featured as a leader in many settings. He is heard on three two-part double-entendre performances with singer Victoria Spivey ("New Black Snake Blues," "Toothache Blues," and "Furniture Man Blues"); on five guitar duets with the great Eddie Lang (during which Lang was billed as Blind Willie Dunn); in a vocal duet with Spencer Williams; on the two-part "It Feels So Good" with Lang, King Oliver, and Hoagy Carmichael; as part of Blind Willie Dunn's Gin Bottle Four; and as a solo blues performer. Everything works. Considering that this is a strictly chronological release, the music is consistently rewarding, making this one of the key Lonnie Johnson CDs to pick up. ~ Scott Yanow Complete Recorded Works (1925-1932), Vol. 4: 1928-1929 Music Lonnie Johnson Complete Recorded Works (1925-1932), Vol. 4: 1928-1929 Songs | 1. | I'm So Tired of Lying All Alone | |

Original Soundtrack/Nouvelle Vague: Marc Collins, Oliver Libaus. Additional personnel: Marina Lima, Melanie Pain, Eloisia, Camille, Alex , Silja, Sir Alice, Daniella D'Ambrosio (vocals). The best compliment that can be paid to Nouvelle Vague's self-titled debut album: it isn't as arch and smirking as a collection of bossa nova versions of new wave classics by fetching French and Brazilian chanteuses would suggest. Based on the concept alone, Nouvelle Vague seems similar to the work of jokesters like the Mike Flowers Pops or Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine, but though the album is definitely playful, it works on a sincere level enough of the time to be more than just a goof. In fact, Nouvelle Vague's best moments are a tribute to how well written the words and melodies of these songs are; that ...
