Georgia White was one of Chicago's very best barrelhouse blues singers during the 1930s and early '40s. The second volume of her complete recorded works as compiled by Document in the '90s contains 23 sides recorded in 1936 and 1937 with rhythm accompaniment by pianist Richard M. Jones, guitarist Ikey Robinson, and bassist John Lindsay. Cutting loose and partying down were staple themes in White's working repertoire. She clearly enjoyed handling material like Ma Rainey's "Moonshine Blues" and the rocking "Little Red Wagon," which was popularized by Count Basie as "Your Red Wagon." Richard M. Jones was an excellent accompanist, and several of his compositions appear on this collection. They are "Black Rider," "Walking the Street," "When My Love Comes Down," and "Trouble in Mind" which appears thrice as "Trouble in Mind," "New Trouble in Mind," and the upbeat "Trouble in Mind Swing."
Recording information: Chicago, IL (05/12/1936-05/19/1937).
Personnel: Georgia White (vocals); Ikey Robinson (guitar); R.J. Jones (piano).
Audio Remasterer: Gerhard Wessely.

Complete Recorded Works, Vol. 2 (1936-37) CD music
$12.69 Miss Diana and Dr. Jay met at a music store and married three weeks later. An image momentarily frozen in time pictures Dr. Jay beaming, a judge staring wide-eyed into space and Miss Diana looking at Dr. Jay with a little bit of concern. That was a few years ago (two spent in Europe), about 300 original songs, at least 5000 club dates and somewhere around 3062 mornings of Miss Diana sitting across a breakfast table watching Dr. Jay eat corn flakes, smoke a hand-rolled cigarette and smile at her pretty face - thereās usually a bead of milk dripping down Dr. Jay's chin.Album Notes:it's extremely humiliating for us that you cannot see us. i say humiliating, because as performers we have been duped out of the single presumption which makes our life bearable; the knowledge that someone's watching. we are therefore - because of the single amplitude of this audio disk - tried down to a language which seems to only make up in obscurity what it lacks in style. but, the songs, the playing and the singing are some of what we consider our best - no flattery needed, they are merely competent. you know ...
