Anti-Nowhere League Anthology Songs Anthology Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) This will blow you away ! Mosr ANWL Fans would have 1,2 if not more CD compilations from the League. This is another , turning out the same songs in a different package. But for newcomers to the Leagues sound this has it all, studio versions of their STREETS OF LONDON track, I HATE PEOPLE, WOMAN, REMEMBER YOU and many more. The only downside to disc one is that there is no studio version of SO WHAT, and that we have to content ourselves listening to the live version on disc two.36 tracks in all (20 live), there are still other songs worthy of inclusion on an "Anthology" CD, but as the League prepare to release another CD, summer 2004, I'm sure there will be many more versions of their Greatest hits/Anthology's before we finally get to the last one, in the meantime enjoy RAW, IN YOUR FACE BRITISH PUNK ! A powerhouse of punk and hard rock This album proves that the Anti Nowhere League were an outstanding live act. The proof is in how you play live as to whether you're the real deal or not. Animal has a great stage presence and Mark Gilly Gilham's guitar drives the machine with raw power and grunt.
OK, some of the drumming falls out of time now and then but hey, this is a kind of punk and not an American 80's metal band. Five stars. Submitted by mail (London) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$12.55 "For those who worship the ground that Jewel, Ani Difranco or any other independent female artist walks on, you've been paying homage to the wrong diva." - Adam Jonas, Iowa State Daily (Ames, IA.)Tina Schlieske was born in Chicago and raised in the music hub of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her mother - herself the daughter of a Russian Opera diva, adored music and passed her passion along to her children. Tina was weaned on 70's FM radio and the music her Mother blasted from her stereo. Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin, the Beatles, and Elvis were all early inspirations. But then an Aretha Franklin tape her sister Laura gave to her sealed Tina's musical fate. She had her first guitar at 13, and her first electric guitar at 16 and taught herself out of the chord books she found in her sister's piano bench. As a teenager with an independent streak, Tina formed a band, Tina & the B-Sides, a rock/soul/blues concoction that went on to become one of the most popular bands in the Midwest. Starting her own independent label Movement Records along with an aggressive touring schedule of back-to-back two hour plus shows and an onstage energy that ignited the crowds earned Tina a reputation that was hard to ignore. Seymour Stein from Sire records went to see a Tina and the B-Sides show at the famed CBGB's in New York and she was signed the next day." A white soul singer from Minneapolis? Don't laugh. Like ...

$11.49 In June 2004 I went to Colorado to record this album with the fantastic Sally Van Meter. If you don't know who she is then shame on you! She is one of the finest dobro players around. The Queen of Taste, Tone and Timing!!! We met 3 years ago at the Sore Fingers Summer School, a week long bluegrass school held at easter every year in the Cotswolds. She was teaching me, and a motley crew of ne'er-do-wells, to play dobro. During the course of the week she discovered that I was a fair-to-middling guitar player, and I ended up backing her on a couple of beautiful tunes at the staff concert. Somehow while all that was happening I let her hear one of my songs, and the rest is kind of history...That summer I went out to Colorado for the Rockygrass festival and some more of the finest dobro teaching you can get. One night sitting out on the porch, I got into that weird place that music takes you sometimes and I played songs from the heart, my songs, other peoples songs, songs I couldn't remember, songs I hadn't played for 20 years. That was when Sally said that I had to record an album.Well it took a while to summon the courage and the money, but when someone like Sally believes so much in the project, then darn it, it's going to happen. So then it's June 2004 and I'm in Colorado. I arrived a couple of days early to acclimatise and work on arrangements before we went into the studio. The drummer Christian Theele came over to the house to help out and I had my first panic attack which lasted all of two minutes. He was such a good guy, and had really listened to the rough demo I did. So two days later we went into the Notably Fine Audio studio in Denver to record the album Gabe Witcher, a total genius fiddler, flew in from Telluride for 2 days en-route to Oregon with the Jerry Douglas Band, Eric Thorin just got back from Alaska where he had been on tour with Open Road, Christian ...

| | Milo Fairweather CD (2007)
Anthology CD music
$7.99 First things first: Milo Fairweather is not a stage name. Milo Fairweather is the name of a project born out of a never ending stream of songs which were less suited to that of singer/songwriter Daniel Olivas' rock band, Dronen. While the band was on hiatus in early 2005, Daniel decided to keep busy by working on song ideas that he felt were not Dronen material. These were songs that were never meant to be played loudly on a stage at one of the local venues that the band frequented. These felt more intimate, and although Daniel believed they possessed less potential for commercial acceptance, he thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and record a few to get a feel for what he could do with them. In July of that year "Jesys" (a song which would later be released on the debut self-titled LP) was recorded, and the ball slowly began rolling. About halfway through the recording of this first song, Daniel ...
