WASTED AGAIN--the title tacitly acknowledges that some of these songs have been anthologized more than once--commemorates Black Flag's breakup after eight years and more than a dozen releases. Chatty liner notes detail the band's history and ever-shifting lineups, all of which were built around guitarist/songwriter Greg Ginn. Focusing mostly on the punk-oriented early years, with songs like "Wasted" (later a college-radio hit for Camper Van Beethoven in an entirely new arrangement), "TV Party," "Six Pack," and "Jealous Again," the album gives short shrift to Black Flag's metal-jazz-hardcore mid-'80s era, with "Loose Nut" and "Annihilate This Week" best representing this sometimes-peculiar stage in the band's career. As a result, Henry Rollins' role in the band is somewhat de-emphasized, with songs sung by his predecessors Dez Cadena, Chavo, and Keith Morris predominating. The compilation contains no new material and so is unessential for fans, but this is probably the best starting point for those unfamiliar with Black Flag's extensive discography.

Black Flag Wasted...Again Songs Wasted...Again Music Review Average Rating: (3.3 out of 5 stars) Unnecessary record I find this a very poor SST release. Not only did the label attempt a greatest hits type collection for a band that went against the grains of stuff like that, but they failed miserably trying to get a decent collection of songs together. Nothing from "My War"?!? Key tracks missing from 'Damaged'?
Black Flag went through many sounds and line up changes. One might be better off going straight for the "Damaged" album since it to this day is trumpeted as one of the most important records of the U.S. punk movement. Submitted by DJJSerpico (New York, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A pretty good collection. Every song on here is good, but it skips a couple classic Flag stuff. It doesnt have Rise Above, which is possibly their best song. It also leaves off a couple early classics like Nervous Breakdown and Fix Me. If you want classic Black Flag, get Damaged and for some early stuff, get The First Four Years. Once you have those two albums, you have pretty much all the good stuff off this album. But it is still pretty good if you are just starting to get into Black Flag. $19.79 The fortunes of artists who go solo once their pop group has disbanded has always been hard to predict. Robbie Williams is an obvious example, but the likes of Simon Webbe and Geri Halliwell, to name two more, have achieved far greater success than anticipated, often at the expense of their much more fancied bandmates. So it shouldn't come as too much of a shock that the Appleton sisters, formerly of chart-toppers All Saints, have easily surpassed some rather lowly expectations with their debut album. Nicole and Natalie may be famous for their rock star boyfriends and Heat magazine appearances, but Everything's Eventual positions them as gifted songwriters, with a knack for a strong ...

Wasted...Again music CDs
$14.79 Ion is a new solo venture by the established UK musician, David J. Hughes. Most people will know David as the founder member of T-Bass and the last man standing in the SkinMechanix collaboration. Both of these ventures typify the Hughes approach to making music. In other words, foot-on-the-floor, pedal-to-the-metal, full-on electronic power tracks with only an occasional nod towards slower, more romantic moods and feelings. Ion cuts off at a tangent and is, according to Hughes, an attempt to get back to basics, to shift the emphasis away from keyboard chops and screaming solos and towards a more symphonic and, dare one perhaps suggest, a more mature and maybe even a more relaxed state of mind. David is, after all, getting on a bit these days and needs to take it easy. Listen to the music of Ion and simply enjoy. Sequencer music doesn't get much better than this. Reviews / Awards# In December 2007, Ion's Future Forever was voted second in Scott Raymond's Top Ten Albums for 2007 on the Secret Music Programme. Secret Music is broadcast on radio station WKVR, which covers the Poughkeepsie area, NY. # In January 2008, Ion's Future Forever was voted one of "The Best Downloadable albums of 2007" over on the ElectroAmbient Space web site."Ever seen pictures of the ice hotels they build in Norway and Sweden every year? Well this sublimely wintery ambient album by David Hughes' side project, Ion, may just may be the perfect soundtrack for staying in one. Firmly rooted in the Berlin school, it's incredibly clean and crystalline and we love the modern utopias it conjures up with its frosty sequencing and big serene arcs of sound. Standout tracks include 'Future Forever' and 'The Silent Scream. '"Magnatune"Ion is the new solo project from David J. Hughes of T-Bass and Skin Mechanix. It is ...
