Fossils album for sale by Dinosaur Jr was released Jun 02, 1992 on the SST label. FOSSILS is a compilation of singles and B-sides from the band's tenure with SST. Released after Dinosaur Jr left SST for Warner/Reprise in 1990, FOSSILS gathers odds and ends from the Amherst, Massachusetts band's original lineup of J Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph, who recorded for Greg Ginn's label for four years. The eight tracks on this brief EP are a varied and variable lot, ranging from a spectacular, sensitive Neil Young-like cover of the Cure's "Just Like Heaven" which ends with a chillingly abrupt tape cut, to the 45-second hardcore blurt of "Chunks." Another cover, a jokey but relatively straight version of Peter Frampton's "Show Me the Way," shows the '70s pop influences which would become more noticeable on the group's major-label albums. ...See Full Description
