Not many acoustic guitarists can truthfully claim to have performed and recorded with Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Doc Watson, Michelle Shocked and Tony Rice--but Norman Blake can. Though Blake plays many stringed instruments, he is regarded as a master of the acoustic guitar, specializing in folk, bluegrass, country, ragtime, and old-time string-band music.1977's BLACKBERRY BLOSSOM displays Blake's versatility, warmth and tremendous skill on every track, whether he's interpreting bluegrass (Bill Monroe's "Jerusalem Ridge"), early 20th century country music ("Are You From Dixie," "Railroad Blues"), or performing tradition-inspired originals ("Lonesome Jenny," featuring his wife Nancy on cello).
