| Roger Wolfe Kahn Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) I Kahn-t get enough Ok sorry about the pun but this is the sort of music, happy and optimistic which brings a smile to your face. Add to that Joe Venuti and Miff Mole, and later Artie Shaw and Charlie Teagarden, and this is a cut above the normal mid to late 20s New York dance band fare. And I just love the way Jersey Walk segues into Honeymoon Lane. Submitted by nick slocombe (London, England) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 2 found this helpful.
A great band leader & musician - and composer!
An amazing band leader, from a very wealthy family he bought his own orchestra at 17! Gave up music
for a bit while he learned to fly and became a key
test pilot for Grumman Aircraft. After war yrs, he went back to leading an orchestra. Submitted by dbeaumont1 (new castle, de, usa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Roger Wolfe Kahn
$29.19 Personnel: Pat Benatar (vocals); Neil Giraldo (vocals, guitar, keyboards, percussion, drum programming); Frank Linx (vocals, bass, percussion); Roger Capps (vocals, bass); Scott St. Clair Sheets (guitar); Allison Cornell (violin, viola, keyboards); Rich Lataille (alto saxophone); Greg Piccolo (tenor saxophone); Doug James (baritone saxophone); Bob Enos (trumpet); Carl Querfurth (trombone); Charlie Giordano (keyboards); Donnie Nossov, Fernando Saunders, Chuck Domanico, Mick Mahan (bass); Ray Brinker (drums, percussion); Glen Alexander Hamilton, Myron Grombacher, John Rossi (drums). Producers include: Mike Chapman, Peter Coleman, Keith Olsen, Neil Giraldo, Don Gehman. Compilation producers: David K. Tedds, Cheryl Pawelski. Includes liner notes by Timothy White, Rick Newman, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. Pat Benatar was certainly one of the best arena rockers of the early '80s. Not only did she sell albums, but she made records that sounded great on the radio -- "Heartbreaker," "Hit Me with Your Best Shot," "Shadows of the Night," "I Need a Lover," "Love Is a Battlefield," "We Belong," "Invincible," "Sex as a Weapon," even the latter-day "All Fired Up" -- enough hits for a really good hits collection, which she has several of in her catalog; however, not enough for a three-disc box set, which is what Synchronistic Wanderings is. That's not to say that all Benatar had to offer were hit singles, since she did have some good album tracks, or that she shouldn't have a collection of rarities and unreleased material, since some of the demos, live tracks, and unreleased cuts aren't bad, and certainly of interest to fans. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Pat Benatar was certainly one of the best arena rockers of the early '80s. | | Get Yer Boots On: The Best Of Slade CD (2004)
Roger Wolfe Kahn
$9.99 Slade: Neville "Noddy" Holder (vocals); Dave Hill (guitar); Jim Lea (bass); Don Powell (drums). Recorded between 1971 & 1984. Includes liner notes by Dan Epstein. Led by the amiable Noddy Holder and armed with a slew of intentionally misspelled song titles, Slade was one of the key groups in the 1970s U.K. glam movement. Whether settling into jaunty, piano-driven tunes ("Coz I Love You," "Look Wot You Dun") or running through amped-up guitar-heavy numbers ("Mama Weer All Crazee Now," "Cum on Feel the Noize," both covered by Quiet Riot), the ridiculously adorned band was clearly out to have fun, as revealed on the 16 well-selected tracks presented here. While there has been an enormous number of Slade collections over the years, Shout Factory's 2004 release Get Yer Boots On: The Best of Slade is the first comprehensive U.S. compilation, containing both their '70s peak and their early-'80s comeback. If the track listing looks vaguely familiar to Slade-heads, that's because it does share numerous ...
