Not a bad song in the bunch The bands first 2 albums were just a warm up for this album. I bought this LP in 1974 and could not stop playing it. It takes you on the rollercoaster ride that Queen was to become.Brian May really comes into his own on this album as does the rest of the band. If you are new to the Queen experience then this is where you should start By Chuck (Boise,Idaho,USA)
Sheer excellence Probably the first of many GREAT Queen albums, but this is still one of my all- time favourites. Queen does not get much better than this- neither do Freddie and Brian's vocals. The best track has gotta be flick of the wrist- superb. By Bob (Da heath)
Great piece of work. One can see in this 3rd album, the genius that would create something as dynamic as Bohemian Rhapsody. Well worth the time to listen! By do not publish (Windsor, Il., USA)
QUEENS PEAK Agree with the guy who thinks this was their best. I got it when it came out on LP, the next two records were more commercially successful and some think "night at the opera" was their best...to me it sounded like what it was- a highly polished, commercial sounding record. The main reason I don't like the records after this one as well is because Brian May's guitar work began to take a backseat to Mercury's direction for the band and he was not featured as strongly as on "sheer heart attack"...a shame because he had a unique guitar sound. This album shows it off well on many of the songs. Queens trademark operatic vocal arrangements and orchestral guitar parts come together perfectly on "Sheer Heart attack" and the album has a good blend of strong rockers and slower songs. The "Live at the BBC" CD is also one to get if you liked Queen as much for Brian May. By chris henrici (washington, dc)
its best this is simply the best queen album. Im sorrry if dou disagree, but IMHO this is their finest. Powerful, raw, hard, funny, sheer heart attack has it all in a good measure. By polo gallagher (america)
