Night at the Opera album for sale Product Description
Night at the Opera album for sale by Queen was released Sep 03, 1991 on the Hollywood label. Queen were straining at the boundaries of hard rock and heavy metal on Sheer Heart Attack, but they broke down all the barricades on A Night at the Opera, a self-consciously ridiculous and overblown hard rock masterpiece. Using the multi-layered guitars of its predecessor as a foundation, A Night at the Opera encompasses metal ("Death on Two Legs," "Sweet Lady"), pop (the lovely, shimmering "You're My Best Friend"), campy British music hall ("Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon," "Seaside Rendezvous"), and mystical prog rock ("'39," "The Prophet's Song"), eventually bringing it all together on the pseudo-operatic "Bohemian Rhapsody." In short, it's a lot like Queen's own version of Led Zeppelin IV, but where Zep find dark menace in bombast, Queen celebrate their own pomposity. Night at the Opera CD music contains a single disc with 14 songs. ...See Full Description

| Good lord I cannot believe I didn't review this one yet!! Queen is one of my favorite bands of all time, and this album blows me away. This album was released loooong before my time, but I am grateful to have found this. Great, great, great album. By Tiffany (Flint, MI, USA) |
| Meant To Be the Best Queen directed this album to be the greatest album they can release, and they have achieve that goal. This album includes "Bohemian Rhapsody," rated best song in the world. Don't forget this album isncludes many other favorites. This album is a must have, if you don't already have it. This album is an album to be appreciated for it's diversity, from songs like "Death On Two Legs" to "Love Of My Life." By samsamatassi (Houston, TX, USA) |
| Somewhat Disappointing After all the raves, I figured this would be a GREAT album (like the classic Marx Bros. film for which it's named). It certainly has its high points: "39", "You're My Best Friend" are classics and "Seaside Rendevous" & "Sweet Lady" are eminently listenable. OK, maybe Bohemian Rhapsody is not bad. But then there are the pretentious top-heavy plodding number like the opener and "I'm in Love with My Car" I think Queen does pop best, and so I slightly prefer Sheer Heart Attack & Day at the Races.
