1984's SLIDE IT IN was the first album that showed that Whitesnake was truly attempting to make it big in the U.S. Its sound was becoming more radio-friendly, but still retained the biting hard rock edge present on its earlier albums--new guitarist John Sykes also proved to be the perfect foil for ex-Deep Purple frontman David Coverdale.
The set features such boisterous rockers as the album-opening title track, the grinding "Slow an' Easy," and the melodic "Love Ain't No Stranger." Although there was a 3-year break after SLIDE IT IN (during which Sykes would leave the band), the album set the stage perfectly for Whitesnake's eponymous 1987 worldwide mega-hit.

Record Collector (magazine) (p.99) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "[A] sumptuous feast of melodic hard rock, with the ex-Deep Purple frontman on impressive form throughout, backed by his crack band." Whitesnake Slide It In Songs Slide It In Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) Great recording, but... This is the US remix of the Slide it In. This is a great record, but in the US remix Jon Lord's keyboards have been almost eliminated, anb guitars are heavier, but the bluesy feeling is not there. The UK remix, which is prior to the US release, is much better, sounds less commercial and Jon Lord's keyboards are more prominent. Whitesnake's best release....but You should concider that this is the US remix featuring John Sykes. It's a re-recording due to Micky Moody's departure. In my opinion this is the better one if you like the guitar more than the keyboard (which is almost gone on this one) Submitted by Peter (Ljungsbro, Sweden) Was This Review Helpful? my all time favorite!! This album kicks major ass from the opening guitar riff of the rocking title track to the last fade out notes of "Standing In The Shadow"! The playing is top notch, and David Coverdale's vocals rank among the best of his career, particularly on "Slow An' Easy", "Gambler" and the wonderful "Love Aint No Stranger". If you don't already have this cd, your collection is severely lacking some serious (snake)bite!! Submitted by a reviewer (Pensacola, Florida) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Heavy Metal came from the blues... This is heavy metal with a bluesy feel that was no longer evident in Whitesnake's work after this album with Coverdale's subsequent breakthrough into the U.S. market with the album "1987" and the "Here I go Again" single that everyone talks about. Let me be as objective as I can with you now. There are only two albums that have ever been released that might be better than this. Def Leppard's Pyromania and Hysteria albums. That's all. This album is simply a masterpiece. Every song is great. Catchy choruses, heavy, bluesy chords. Heavy rock at its best and this album had about five hit singles. The whole darn thing is a hit single. It also marks one of the last cd's to feature the late great drummer, Cozy Powell. Submitted by seejordan (Surrey, B.C., Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 0 of 1 found this helpful.

Slide It In album
$7.55 Prior to 1987, Whitesnake was little more than a cult heavy metal band in the U.S. Its previous album, 1984's SLIDE IT IN, sparked interest amongst headbangers, yet failed to deliver lucrative crossover success. But that all changed with its self-titled release that same year--by streamlining its early blues rock sound and incorporating obvious elements of Led Zeppelin and melodic pop, Whitesnake became one of the biggest rock bands of the late '80s.
The band caught a lot of flack for such Zep-derivative tracks as "Still of the Night" and "Crying in the Rain," but it was the pop hits "Here I Go Again" and "Is This Love" that put album and band over the top. Its sexually charged videos and an opening slot on Motley Crue's GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS tour didn't hurt matters either.
Includes liner notes by Simon Robinson.
Digitally remastered by Nick Watson (SRT Studios).

Slide It In CD music
$6.15 When Whitesnake hit it big in the late '80s with its power-pop/metal one-two punch, many new fans were unaware that earlier in the band's career, David Coverdale and co. were straight ahead, bluesy hard rockers, especially on their 1982 release, SAINTS & SINNERS.
The album is best known amongst longtime Whitesnake fans as the one that features two songs that would be ...
| | Whitesnake Snakebite CD (1978)
Slide It In music CDs
$5.29 Snakebite barely qualifies as a Whitesnake album. Vocalist David Coverdale had just assembled the band, and in fact, half of the songs contained here had been recorded by the singer nearly a year before for an abandoned solo outing. With this in mind, one can understand why most of the cuts either suffer from a lack of creative direction, the players' limited musical interaction, or both. Of the tracks credited to Whitesnake the band, the best results are achieved on the rollicking "Come On" and the bluesy "Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City," the latter eventually being their first hit. And while more cohesive amongst ...

When it became known that Vivian Campbell had left Whitesnake and been replaced by six-string master Steve Vai in 1989, the rock world and guitar fans everywhere waited with bated breath for the new line-up's first album together. Vai was supposed to join forces with Whitesnake's other guitarist, Adrian Vandenberg, but a freak injury to Vandenberg's hands prior to the sessions meant that Vai handled all the guitar duties himself.
While the album wasn't on par with such past releases as 1984's SLIDE IT IN and 1987's smash self-titled release, SLIP OF THE TONGUE was another hit--the band, and ...
| | Dio Holy Diver CD (1983)
Slide It In album
$7.55 Despite recording two hit studio albums with Black Sabbath (1980's HEAVEN AND HELL and 1981's THE MOB RULES) and playing throughout the world to huge crowds, Ronnie James Dio left the band in 1982-the year of his final release with Sabbath, the in-concert LIVE EVIL. As soon as the announcement of his departure was made official, Dio began to put together his first solo project. Joining him were former Rainbow bandmate Jimmy Bain on bass, former Sabbath bandmate Vinny Appice on drums, ex-Sweet Savage guitar hero Vivian Campbell, and newcomer Claude Schnell on keyboards.
HOLY DIVER, Dio's band debut, was issued in 1983. The album quickly became a favorite among headbangers worldwide and eventually earned the group platinum certification. The somewhat upbeat sounding "Rainbow in the Dark" was an MTV favorite, while the plodding ...

One word: rrrrraaaaaaaaarrrrrrrgh. Many words: retaliatory blitzkrieg against the American rawk might of 2000 (Queens of the Stone Age, At the Drive-In, etc.) while showing those jock whippersnappers a thing or two on how to bang about with all sorts of two-finger saluting discord. Yes, Raging Speedhorn is Corby, Northamptonshire's own Slipknot. Except with less backpedaling shock tactics and more crotch-scratching metal guff. Which is how it should be, really. The eviscerated "Mandan" ramps up in into an explosive finale of bleary barks and pants-wetting ...
