SAMMY HAGAR was rereleased on CD as I NEVER SAID GOODBYE on Geffen (24144). Producers: Sammy Hagar, Eddie Van Halen, David Thoener. This album, originally released in 1987 under the title SAMMY HAGAR, was renamed for its CD release in an MTV contest. Personnel includes: Sammy Hagar (vocals, guitar); Eddie Van Halen (bass). Producers: Sammy Hagar, Eddie Van Halen, David Thoener. Sammy Hagar, the singer's last solo album, was released a year after his first album with Van Halen, 1986's 5150. Although it charted the highest of any of his records, peaking at number 14, it wasn't as successful as his three previous albums, suffering from a slick, synthesized production and a lack of consistent material. The power ballad "Give to Live" was a hit and a couple of the rockers raised above the pedestrian level, yet the overall product was rather faceless. Perhaps sensing the lackluster quality of the record, Hagar launched an MTV promotion to re-title the record; the winning entry was I Never Said Goodbye, and titled that way in subsequent pressings. The 1994 Unboxed compilation also called the album I Never Said Goodbye, not Sammy Hagar. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine I Never Said Goodbye Music Sammy Hagar I Never Said Goodbye Songs I Never Said Goodbye Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Great album! This is definitely one of my favorite Sammy albums, and it was really cool to hear Eddie Van Halen on bass - quite a change up! My favorite selection is "Privacy" with the "Standing at the Crossroads" intro. Sammy had several singles released from this album with good reason - the songs were air-play friendly with a nice rock edge. I've owned this album since it was on cassette and simply titled "Sammy Hager," and now I own it on CD. ...and I am sooooo glad they didn't name it "Van Hagar"!! LOL! Sammy's best In my opinion, this is the best Sammy LP there is. It's different than all his other stuff...a little edgier and more raw. Submitted by a reviewer (Burkburnett,Tx) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
What memories it bring back when listening to it!!! I remember when this first came out, I bought it on album. I still have the album when it was a self titled album, prior to the MTV contest. All are the self titled.
I was completely impressed with this when it first came out. Playing bass is Edward VanHalen and thoughout the album is the backing vocals of the Van Halen gang. This to me is the best Hagar album and blows OU812 and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge out of the water. No this isnt Eddie playing guitar but the red rocker plays really good. The opening track of "When the Hammer Falls" let's you know what the album is all about. It's about to rock your pants off. There is only three somewhat mellow songs (Hands and Knees, Give To Live, and Back Into You) but even they have good chords. This album is not a complete party album, some of it has true and deep meaning (What They Gonna Say Now). All in all, this is an album that a true Red Rocker should have. This is Sammy being Sammy and not VanHagar.

Response to DKO Yes, this is a very good album. However, the title "I Never Said Goodbye" is not a "new sub-title" as DKO previously mentioned. Correct, it was originally called simply "Sammy Hagar" but immediately after its release, there was a contest to name the album. Fans sent in there best thought out album title and the winner was someone who came up with the title "I Never Said Goodbye". It wasn't me, but I wonder who it was. What happened man? Believe me, I'm not often gonna bash my two main guys, Sammy Hagar and Eddie Van Halen, but this is not a good album. It may be Hagar, but EVH produced it. Most of the songs are too keyboard heavy. two or three songs stand out: Eagles Fly, Give To Live, and Boys' Night Out. I'm not gonna say this is a horrible album, but Sammy can't make this mistake again. Submitted by Zach (Lockport IL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
I Never Said Goodbye
$6.39 The Corrs: Jim Corr (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Sharon Corr (vocals, violin); Andrea Corr (vocals, tin whistle); Caroline Corr (vocals, drums, bodhran, percussion). Recorded at Ardmore Studios in Dublin, Ireland in January 2002. You knew the Corrs had made it when they played the final JFK Awards ceremony of the Clinton administration. Playing it would have been achievement enough, but their status as a happening thing was cemented at the end of the ceremony, during the encores, when everybody was taking their final bows. Bill moseyed up over to Andrea, put his arm around her, and when she was looking away, sized her up -- at precisely the same moment Chuck Berry was checking her out. If that doesn't mean that you've broken America, entering its pop culture, I don't know what does, expect for maybe a VH1-endorsed piece of product like Live in Dublin. Lo and behold, that's exactly what the Corrs received in the spring of 2002, a year and a half after "In Blue" and its accompanying single ...
