Out of print in the U.S.! Though he'd been a professional musician for over two decades, Outrider was the first official solo album by former Led Zeppelin guitar legend. The album showcases Page's unique style that charmed the pants off of Zep fans for a decade. Speaking of Zep, both Robert Plant and Jason Bonham (John's son) make appearances on the album alongside Chris Farlowe, John Miles, Tony Franklin and others. Features nine tracks including 'Wasting My Time', 'The Only One' and the beautiful 'Emerald Eyes'. Universal.
Personnel: Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Jason Bonham, John Miles, Tony Franklin, Chris Farlow, Durban Laverde, Barrimore Barlow. Personnel: Jimmy Page (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, synthesizer, guitar synthesizer); Chris Farlow, Chris Farlowe, John Miles, Robert Plant (vocals); Jason Bonham, Barriemore Barlow (drums). Audio Mixer: Leif Mases. Recording information: Sol Studio, Cookham, Berkshire, England. Photographer: Pete Ashworth. Page's debut solo album is a heavy guitar treat employing a varying cast of sidemen, including drummer Jason Bonham and Page's old Led Zeppelin partner Robert Plant, who co-writes and sings one song. ~ William Ruhlmann
Jimmy Page Outrider Songs Outrider Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) Loud Guitarrs This CD was much better than the Firm
album Jimmy was involved in.
I especially like the loud tone of the
guitarrs and hard rock like music on
this one.
I think its Jimmys best effort since
the Led Zeppelin days.

Life after Zep If there was ever any doubt that Page could continue after Led Zeppelin, this album provides the answer: YES!!! "Outrider" is an absolute classic album with good heavy rock (a spellbinding guitar riff and real showmanship as only Page can do on "Wasting my time") and blues. A fantastic and delicate cover of BB King's "Hummingbird" is presented here together raw blues and one of the most uncompromising/ferocious guitar solos ever on "Prison Blues". There's also the reflective instrumentals "Liquid Mercury" and "Writes of Winter" which both really stand out on this album. "Outrider" may not have been such a commercial success, but if you like blues/rock and like Led Zeppelin, chances are you'll find this CD every bit as enjoyable as I did and still do. THE REVIEWER FROM NC IS AN IDOT.!!!! BEST MUSIC JIMMY HAS COME OUT WITH SINCE
LED. CHRIS FARLOWE'S VOICE ON PRISON BLUES,BLUE ANTHEM & HUMMINGBIRD ARE FANTASTIC (SHADES OF OLD JOHN LEE HOOKER). JIMMY CAN STILL PLAY THE BLUES LIKE NO ONE ELSE. Submitted by NICK (FT. LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Very good music! I heard this CD many times. I think this is one of the best from Jimmy Page. Chris Farlowe (ex Colosseum singer) is fantastic! (Hummingbird, Blues Anthem, Prison Blues). Robert Plant, John Miles are very good too.

Disappointing Mediocre at best. The only song with inspired playing is Prison Blues, and it has perhaps the worst singing I've ever heard. Jimmy, where did you find this guy? He also murders Blues Anthem, which would have been a very good song. The first singer is okay, and it's a breath of fresh air to have Plant on one song, although it's not a very good song. This album just leaves you longing for Zeppelin (or even The Firm, for that matter!) Submitted by Greg (Asheville, NC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Taylor took four and a half years off from record-making in the early '80s, returning with That's Why I'm Here, which suggested he had found his long-term niche with Baby Boomer fans now permanently tuned to soft-rock radio -- this was Taylor's first record to spawn three Top Ten adult contemporary hits, with the title track, "Only One," and a cover of Buddy Holly's "Everyday." But those boomers just don't go to the record store as often as their children, and the album failed to go gold and was his lowest-charting effort since his debut. If, in the title song, he had reconciled himself to the notion that he was here to sing "Fire And Rain" at summer concerts, that also meant he was settling for a complacent position in which his new material was virtually irrelevant, and that being the case, why should people buy it? (Notwithstanding its initial commercial reception, That's Why I'm Here eventually went platinum.) ~ William Ruhlmann James Taylor took four and a half years off from record-making in the early 1980s, returning with That's Why I'm Here, which suggested he had found his long-term niche with Baby Boomer fans now permanently tuned to Soft Rock radio--this was Taylor's first record to spawn three Top 10 Adult Contemporary hits, with the title track, "Only One," and a cover of Buddy Holly's "Everyday."
