| | Peter Kater How The West Was Lost, Vol. 2 Soundtrack CD
When the Discovery Channel commissioned Peter Kater to compose and perform the soundtrack for How the West was Lost, he made some great decisions. He recruited R. Carlos Nakai, Joanne Shenandoah, the White Oak Singers, and other remarkable musicians to assist him. He created six and a half hours of deeply atmospheric music for the 13-hour documentary. How the West Was Lost, Vol. 2 is the second CD of this reverent music. Kater is certainly a talented individual and his capability grows with the input of Nakai and Shenandoah. Both of these discs are amazing and Kater still has four hours of music available for release. This is essential for fans of Native American music. ~ Jim Brenholts

$13.35 These poems were drawn from diverse and uncommon books of verse including La Lampe d'Aladin, Cocteau's very first published volume; Plain-chant, a set of love poems for Raymond Radiguet, and Poemes a Jean Marais, inspired by the star of Orpheus and Beauty and the Beast. While the disc contains no actual recordings of Cocteau reading his own verses, this beautiful tribute does offer a surprising range of textures, arrangements, voices and instrumentation. "Amour Si Soucieux," delightful and somewhat irresistible, receives a Caribbean treatment using steel drums, marimba and saxophone chorus. "Le Mauvais Tapis Volant" comes across almost like cowboy saloon music, with piano, banjo, tenor guitar and ricky-tick percussion. Smoky voiced Colombe Frézin intones the rather ...
