Lotta Boppin' (And Plenty Of Screamin' Too!)-Roulette Rock'N'Roll Volume 4 album for sale Product Description

Lotta Boppin' (And Plenty Of Screamin' Too!)-Roulette Rock'N'Roll Volume 4 album for sale was released Sep 09, 1997 on the Sequel label. For once, the title of a compilation is not mere hyperbole, but actually delivers the goods, starting off with eight tracks of Screamin' Jay Hawkins ooga-moogin' his way through Buddy Knox's "Party Doll" and "A Hard Day's Night" (two takes of each song, each more surreal than the last), an alternate of "The Whammy," and three previously unissued takes of "Feast of the Mau Mau." Holding down the "lotta boppin" side of this 29-track compilation are four early tracks from Johnny Rivers ("Long Long Walk," "Baby Come Back," "That's Rock and Roll," and the previously unissued "One Man Woman"), Mack Vickery with Wild Bill Emerson and the Blue Denims in support on "A Lover's Plea" and "Meant to Be," a hot early-'60s single from Bill Haley & the Comets ("The Spanish Twist" and "My Kind of Woman"), three from pop Elvis wannabe Johnnie Strickland (the best being the bluesy "I've Heard That Line Before") and Roc LaRue's surreal "Rockabilly Yodel." To top it all off are seven tracks from the Rock-A-Teens' original Roulette album -- all presented in stereo -- featuring all the vocal entries from that rarest of early rockabilly long-players, showcasing what a great, raw, flame-throwing band they truly were.   ...See Full Description

Lotta Boppin' (And Plenty Of Screamin' Too!)-Roulette Rock'N'Roll Volume 4 songs Shining stars of the Latin pop and Rock en Espanol worlds come together to pay tribute to Chile's Pablo Neruda on MARINERO EN TIERRA ("Mariner On Earth"). Put together with diligence and taste, this 24-track collection serves as both a gathering of some of El Poeta's greatest work and a showcase for these artists' interpretive abilities. The colorful and personal tone of the project is owed at least in part to the fact that each performer was given complete artistic freedom in selecting and rendering each piece. Mana frontman Fher presents the windy maritime poem "El Viento En La Isla" to silken acoustic guitar strains of the band's own composition "Como Dueles En Los Labios." Soledad Gimenez of Spain's Presuntos Implicados delivers a love sonnet in an exquisite Castillian whisper, to the sound of ambient guitar, bass and Fender Rhodes. The hunky Alejandro Sanz, on the other hand, leaves behind his characteristic pop glitz to offer an unaccompanied and candid reading of "Poema XV" from Neruda's early masterpiece, 20 Love Poems And A Song Of Despair. Interestingly, Brazil's pop singer/songwriter extraordinaire Milton Nascimento and Argentina's heavy metal heroes A.N.I.M.A.L. each offer their own take on the forceful and vivid "No Tan Altos." Fher,Miguel Bose,Beto Cuevas, Andres Calamaro,Aterciopelados Composers: Sole Giménez; Fher; A. Rodríguez; Juan Luis Gimenez; Nacho Maño; Andrés Calamaro; Pablo Neruda; Aterciopelados; Canal Magdalena; Carlos Jean. Lotta Boppin' (And Plenty Of Screamin' Too!)-Roulette Rock'N'Roll Volume 4 album for sale Doo Wop 45s on CD, Vol. 11 is a single disc containing 25 tracks that dig a little deeper into the genre and haven't been burned out from years of over-exposure. It's a treat for the doo wop fan to have access to songs by Four Haven Knights, the Smooth Tones, the Charmers, and the Chandeliers that received regional attention but never achieved the national success initially hoped for. These tracks have been remastered from the original tapes, providing superior sound and giving the Doo Wop 45s on CD series that extra edge over similar compilations. ~ Al Campbell Performers include: The Paramounts, The Channels, The Five Satins, The Chandeliers, The Charmers.

Lotta Boppin' (And Plenty Of Screamin' Too!)-Roulette Rock'N'Roll Volume 4 CD music This could well be considered the fifth volume in Sequel's Roulette Rock 'n' Roll series as it gathers 27 great tracks from the multi-label holdings of that label, covering a time period from 1958 to 1966. The big rarity tickets here are "Ramrod" by one "Frantic" Johnny Rogers (it's actually Duane Eddy's original 1957 Ford recording of the tune, with a story attached to it that's as confusing as the track is revelatory) and an early-'60s Bill Haley & the Comets single, "Riviera" and "War Paint," the latter track featuring some wild, echoey guitar work. Equally worthy are the four tracks from Detroit's Royaltones ("Poor Boy," "Wail!," "Little Bo," and "See Saw"), five from the Rock-A-Teens (the crudely executed "Woo-Hoo" and even cruder "Twangy," "Oh, My Nerves," "Pagan," and "Off-Beat"), a pair of 1966 Colpix Duane Eddy ("El Rancho Grande" and "Poppa's Movin' On," both produced by Lee Hazlewood), the totally unknown Bikinis ("Bikini" and "Boogie Rock and Roll") and both sides of Wild Bill & the Blue Denims' Gone single, "Mona My Love" and "The Chase." Also of interest are entries by Duane Eddy soundalikes Tony Castle & the Raiders, Eddie Platt, the Gone All-Stars, and the Chapparals, who check in with the title track. A great guitar instrumental collection that spotlights what a great, underrated rockin' little label Roulette really was. ~ Cub Koda Illustrator: Brian Burrows. Price
