The 1982 version of Bob Wilber's Bechet Legacy (which consists of Wilber on soprano, trumpeter Glenn Zottola, pianist Mark Shane, guitarist Mike Peters, bassist Reggie Johnson, drummer Butch Miles and singer Pug Horton, who is heard on three songs) is joined by veteran trombonist Vic Dickenson for this spirited CD reissue from 1995. As is expected, most of the songs are associated with Bechet (Wilber's original teacher), including "Margie," "I Can't Believe That You're In Love With Me," "The Mooche," "Shake It and Break It," and three Bechet originals, plus Wilber's "Ode to Bechet." Dickenson, who helps Horton out with the vocal of "I Get the Blues When It Rains," gets to show off both his sly wit and his subtle playing. Enjoyable music, recommended to trad jazz fans. ~ Scott Yanow

Ode To Bechet songs
$13.79 Singles collections from postwar vocal artists aren't usually stocked with A-list material, since after the advent of the LP, the singles format increasingly became a venue for either stylistic experimentation or light novelties aimed at the charts. Jo Stafford was an exception to the rule, however, not only because she was a consummate artist but also because she worked closely with her husband, arranger/conductor Paul Weston, and exercised a large amount of quality control. The Columbia Singles Collection, Vol. 1, released by the family-founded Corinthian label (Tim Weston, the son of Paul and Jo, produced the record), reissues 25 tracks from obscure singles releases recorded by Stafford and Weston during the '50s. (Her biggest hits of the era, including "You Belong to Me" and "Make Love to Me," obviously were released as singles, but don't appear ...

Ode To Bechet music CDs
$9.35 OPEN THE BOOK OF MY LIFE: HEAR MY CRY; & GET 2 KNOW MEBabiboi "The Journal" is the first album released under U2DK PRODUKSHUNZ. The album contains 17 hot tracks featuring U2DK artists D-Tre, Kataz, Eclipse!, and Big Yank."The Journal" also features DJ Controller (of 106.3 Hattiesburg MS) along with Prettyboi, Mista Devious, and Fergerlia Adams. This album stands out from other rap albums because it is not one dimensional. Babiboi's lyrics are on point, he's versatile, and keeps the attention of the listener. "The Journal" basically covers a time frame in Babiboi's life that he wanted to share with the world. (The time frame is 1978-2004, but I am still alive. This album refers to a closed chapter in my life) Everybody can relate to "The Journal" in some way, because everyone has a TESTIMONY. I MUST STRESS THIS POINT!!!Everyone has lived life in darkness at one point in time. Everyone has been through something that may help another individual in need. The people in need can only be helped by someone willing to tell the TRUTH about what experiences we've faced in life. I'm trying to help some people with this album because I know that there are over a million people out in the world that may have been in similar situations. Or should I say, they feel just like I do but they haven't had any one break it down to them like BABIBOI before. Yes, I'm from MISSISSIPPI and I have a pretty good head on my shoulders. First I must give Thanks 2 GOD for allowing me to live through my circumstances and 4 BLESSING me with the talents and courage to be able to put my feelings to this genre of music. Much luv to my Mother, Father, Sisters ...
