| | Poison Clan 2 Low Life Muthas CD Poison Clan Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Discovered by Luther Campbell, Poison Clan was initially molded similarly to 2 Live Crew, as evidenced by 2 Low Life Muthas' production -- executed by Campbell and 2 Live Crew producer Mr. Mixx -- and its mostly lighthearted but occasionally raunchy themes of womanizing, partying, and goofing around. J.T. Money and Debonaire broke out with this album's booming, "Shaft"-sampling "Dance All Night." Not terribly dissimilar from 2 Live Crew tracks like "Move Somethin'," it's one of the few clean songs Poison Clan released -- it's easily their most accessible, and it's also one of the best dance-rap singles of the early '90s; some rotation of the video on Yo! MTV Raps helped give the group some notice, but the remainder of the album didn't do a great deal to build on its success. The duo proves to be competent on the mic, but they don't go much beyond that, and Mr. Mixx's production work rarely hits the level of his best work for 2 Live Crew. J.T. Money briefly hits upon the gangsta themes that would saturate the remaining PC records; on "Bad Influence," he shows he's most comfortable with hard-edged rhymes. This decent debut comes off as 2 Live lite, an issue that would be rectified right after this. ~ Andy Kellman Poison Clan 2 Low Life Muthas Songs | 1. | Low Life Mutha F**Kas |

2 Low Life Muthas
$13.65 Poison Clan's most popular singles -- "Dance All Night," "Shake Whatcha Mama Gave Ya" -- and their affiliations with Luther Campbell have often left them pegged as Miami bass, a notion that would've been blown apart if more attention had been paid to the albums and the vast majority of songs not featuring group call-and-response vocals. Ruff Town Behavior, J.T. Money and company's third album for Campbell's label, is no exception. Released a year after Poisonous Mentality, the album is little more than a continuation of its predecessor and isn't nearly as exciting. It's not that J.T. seems tired, but it's definitely apparent that he's spreading himself too thin by putting out too much material. Few tracks have the bite of Poisonous Mentality's middling moments, and the fact that it's formatted ...

2 Low Life Muthas
$13.69 Poisonous Mentality goes to show that J.T. Money wasn't truly in his element on 2 Low Life Muthas. The departure of his partner, Debonaire, to Home Team ("Pick It Up") brought about a radical shift (a look at the album's cover, depicting J.T. and his droogs escaping with a bag of loot, indicates this) from relatively lighthearted material to harder production and an endless flurry of expletives. Whether ...

2 Low Life Muthas
$9.69 SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE alum Chris Rock writes, directs, and stars in I THINK I LOVE MY WIFE. Rock's film is a remake of the 1972 Eric Rohmer film, CHLOE IN THE AFTERNOON, which explores a married man's common struggle with extramarital temptations. Richard Cooper (Rock) has it all: a beautiful wife, Brenda (Gina Torres); adorable kids; a successful investment banking career--and complete boredom! He has become obsessed with other women, and a visit from an old friend's former flame, sexy and flirtatious Nikki (Kerry Washington), has him staring the possibility of infidelity in the face. Nikki pursues a friendship that provides Richard some much-needed excitement, but also lands him in all kinds of trouble. He jeopardizes his reputation at work, causes fights at home, and rapidly loses sight of what he has built his life around. At some point he must choose between his affair-fantasy ...
