LAY IT DOWN was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album.
Kansas native Jennifer Knapp does not look down from an elevated, judgmental plateau. She does not preach. Her music's spirituality is as earnest as it gets, but it is tempered with a humanistic sense of understanding. In her songs, Knapp explores the imperfections, or "glitches in our souls," as she sings in "Lay It Down," the title track on her sophomore album.
Elements of folk, alt-rock, blues, and country blend seamlessly on LAY IT DOWN. Vocally, Knapp forgoes production tricks for a sound that is raw, confident, and dynamic, as displayed in the imagery of "Diamond in the Rough." Gentle mandolin and understated supporting vocals by guest Margaret Becker accentuate the longing described in "When Nothing Satisfies You." Knapp sings from the heart of humility and the feelings of unworthiness associated with sin in "A Little More." With LAY IT DOWN, Jennifer Knapp bridges the gap that so commonly exists between Christian music and mainstream pop with a healthy dose of excellent songs.

Lay It Down album
$9.79 This is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
THIS IS YOUR TIME was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album.
THIS IS YOUR TIME is Christian hit-maker and two-time Grammy winner Michael W. Smith's 13th studio effort. The singer found his inspiration for the collection in part from the Columbine High School massacre that took place in April 1999. Throughout, the singer urges listeners to make the most of their lives, and to live boldly despite the knowledge that the gift of life can be snuffed out at any time.
The album-opener, "Rince De," with its Celtic undercurrents, calls to mind verdant visions of wind-swept Irish coastlines. A seamless transition is then made to the fist-pumping "Hey You It's Me," is which the singer reminds Christians of the restorative power of their faith and the omnipresence of God. "I Will Be Your Friend" will remind Smith's fans of his chart-topping "I Swear." But what's most appealing about THIS IS YOUR TIME is that Smith couches his inspirational message in terms that are secular enough to allow music lovers of all faiths to enjoy this collection.
Recorded at Deer Valley & The Sound Kitchen, Franklin, Tennessee.

Lay It Down songs
$5.15 Digitally remastered by Bob Norberg & Rob Christie (Capitol Mastering).
The most eclectic of Glen Campbell's late-1960s albums, and his first number one LP, 1968's WICHITA LINEMAN runs from the orchestral melodrama of the title track--the signature song of Glen Campbell's entire career, apart from perhaps "Rhinestone Cowboy"--and the follow-up hit "Dreams of the Everyday Housewife" to a wide variety of covers in some unexpected styles. These include excellent takes of Tim Hardin's "Reason to Believe" (possibly the best of the many covers of Hardin's definitive original), a Dean Martin-like middle-of-the-road version of Sonny Curtis's "The Straight Life," and Sonny Bono's divorce ...
| | Carter Family: 1927-1934 CDs (2002)
Lay It Down album
$23.69 A comprehensive budget compilation by the dependable JSP label, the five-disc 1927-1934 fully covers the first seven years of the Carter Family's musical career and features recordings that are the basis of the trio's honored place in the country music firmament. The set starts, appropriately enough, with the Carters' six contributions to Ralph Peer's legendary 1927 recording sessions in Bristol, Tennessee, and then chronologically wades through every released side that A.P., Sara, and Maybelle recorded for RCA Victor. (This excludes alternate takes that are readily available on Rounder and Bear Family reissues covering the same era.)
Unlike similar collections, where much of the listening intrigue comes from charting the artists' development, the Carters' sound is presented fully formed from the opening track, "Bury Me Under ...
