Relient K is great Hi.We love Relient K.And so does Adam and Cody. We think Adam looks like Matt Thieccen. We just started a band called No name Creek Submitted by evadwms (Muncie Indiana) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Originality! This CD is not polished - that's why I love it. The boys wrote this at a time when they didn't really care about impressing anyone. The songs are witty and will leave you smiling. Some of the lyrics are pretty lame - Staples, for example. But somehow it just works. This is a great cd to put in when you are driving late at nite. Keeps you going. Relient K album
$10.95 This one kind of sneaks up on you. At first, as the title track eases crunchily through its first minute, you say to yourself, "Oh, great, another emo band that has lots of deep feelings but can't be bothered to write a tune or impose any kind of structure on its songs." Then the chorus hits. Well, technically it's not really a chorus, because this band doesn't impose much in the way of structure on its songs, but it sure feels like a chorus. Cathartic, tuneful, soaring -- what are they going to do for the rest of the album? Well, it turns out they're going to do the same thing, over and over, with occasional digressions into triple meter. But although the conceit remains pretty much the same, it doesn't ever get tiresome; this band's ability to combine relatively dense guitar rock with an edge of experimentalism and a deep undertow of emotional uplift is more than just impressive -- it's practically inspiring. Highlights include the title track, "Snowbirds and Townies," and the absolutely gorgeous "Just Until Sundown." Highly recommended. ~ Rick Anderson
Further Seems Forever includes: Chris Carrabba (vocals).
Recorded on September 28, 2000 & November 1, 2000.
| | Relient K MMHMM CD (2004) Enhanced CD
Relient K CD music
$9.99 If anyone doubted the influential nature of Christian pop culture in the United States during 2004, they could be directed to the group Relient K, a shining example of crossover success with the mainstream. Though the ensemble is comprised of Born Again Christians and maintains a large following in the church-going world, the band's music offers few clues regarding the members' faith-based lifestyle. A melodic and finely-honed mix of pop-punk and emo, Relient K's sound combines substantial and upbeat--but never preachy--lyrics with all the best features of its entirely secular counterparts, including whip-tight musicianship, spot-on vocal harmonies, and mosh-ready beats. In addition, the band incorporates the strings, tinkling pianos, and gentle vocals of artists like Travis and Rufus Wainwright, adding a welcome dollop of gravity to the proceedings. Relient K's ace-in-the-hole, however, is its treatment of lyrical subject matter; forgoing blind faith in favor of frank acceptance and mature solutions, the group effectively blurs the line between CCM and mainstream rock.

| | Lostprophets Liberation Transmission CD (2006)
Relient K music CDs
$8.99 On 2006's LIBERATION TRANSMISSION, the Welsh heavy-rock ensemble Lostprophets build on the bold, razor-sharp sound of their breakthrough record, START SOMETHING, by enlisting veteran producer Bob Rock (Metallica) and session drummer extraordinaire Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle). Often recalling both Faith No More (particularly vocally) and Green Day (with its slight punk-pop edge), the group excels at soaring, guitar-driven anthems, as best exemplified by the utterly infectious single "Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast)." An album that deftly avoids nu-metal and emo trappings, LIBERATION TRANSMISSION went straight to the top of the charts upon its release in the U.K., leaving the alt-rock band poised for great success abroad as well.

| | Relient K Two Lefts Don't Make A Right... But Three Do CD (2003) Remastered; Enhanced CD
Relient K songs
$12.19 TWO LEFTS was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album.
In an era where everything from R&B to heavy metal has a Christian subgenre, why not seemingly ubiquitous Blink 182-style pop-punk? Relient K has a reputation for providing just such a thing, but it's difficult to discern the overt Christian content on their third album TWO LEFTS DON'T MAKE A RIGHT. Mostly what's on offer are satiric observations filled with equal parts youthful punk attitude, cutting humor, and smart pop hooks. This being a properly postmodern band, pop-cultural references abound. "Mood Rings" namechecks a number of TV shows, while the ostensibly ironic "In Love With The '80s (Pink Tux to the Prom)" features a character obsessed with Tears for Fears. "College Kids," a sendup of the academic experience, sounds like a subject these Canton, OH guys also know something about, as they seem to effortlessly throw 50-cent words into their bracing rock charge to fine effect.

| | Relient K Anatomy Of The Tongue In Cheek CD (2001) Remastered; Enhanced CD; Gold Edition
Relient K album
$12.19 This band of Christian indie-rockers consolidates and expands its reputation as the band of choice for an ever-growing coterie of Christian rock kids with its sophomore album ANATOMY OF THE TONGUE IN CHEEK, expanding its musical horizons along the way. Although the breakneck Green Day-esque rhythms of this self-titled debut are still apparent in songs like "Kick Off" and "Sadie Hawkins Dance," "For the Moments I Feel Faint" points the way to a growing maturity in the band's sonic palette with its pretty string accompaniment and folky, acoustic feel.
The duality of Christian rock lyrics ("Down in Flames" may be about the decline of an ordinary relationship, or the decline of Western civilization, or both) is much in evidence here. The band skillfully chooses teen-personal subjects that reflect a larger agenda, as in "What Have You Been Doing Lately," whose hooky, infectious "the rest is up to you" doubles as teen anthem and teen pulpit exhortation. Relient K are less precious about their faith than many of their counterparts, and this alone should endear them to the ever-growing numbers of youthful Christian rockers that prefer a little punk with their religion.
Recorded at Yellow Studios, Carlton, Ohio.

| | Phil Keaggy Acoustic Sketches CD (1996)
Relient K music CDs
$14.55 This collection will primarily appeal to guitarists who are fans of Keaggy's acoustic work, because while there are a few fully developed songs, many of the pieces are exactly what the title states: sketches. The majority of the songs are performed on solo guitar with the aid of the "Jam Man," a device that allows the guitarist to record a snippet of music and then play along with it. Some of the songs are fully realized and very worthwhile for the casual listener (e.g. "Paka" and "The 50th") and Keaggy also performs a beautiful solo acoustic version of his song "Spend My Life with You." The rest will inspire guitarists with the skill and technique involved, but do little for the average listener. Includes "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," an outtake from the Beyond Nature album that has a good time with the classic spiritual. ~ Marc Castellani
