100 Anos De Mariachi CD

 Excellent Performance
For me, this is an excellent performance of Placido Domingo of the folkloric music of Mexico. I don't tray to compare it with Jorge Negrete or Pedro Infante or any of the great and famous of the mexican music or "musica ranchera" of the past. I belive all in it's time had a great merit. Every one display his skills and gifts to interpret the songs. This cd is a must for the music collector, specially if interested in mexican music, I highly recommend it.

 OLD STANDARDS SUNG LIKE I'VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE
I WAS VERY FAMILIAR WITH PLACIDO'S OPERATIC CAREER AND HIS AMAZING VOICE, BUT TO HEAR HIM SING IN HIS OWN LANGUAGE BROUGHT CHILLS AND GOOSE BUMPS. I CAN TELL HE MUST HAVE SEARCHED AMONG THE OLD MARIACHI STANDARDS AND FOUND THOSE THAT WOULD EXCENTUATE HIS VOCAL TALENTS. I JUST CAN'T IMAGINE HEARING ANYONE ELSE SINGING THESE SONGS AS WELL. THIS WAS A GIFT FOR MY 94 YR OLD MOTHER AND 1 FOR ME TOO. SHE JUST LOVES IT!!!!

 Placido Sings These Perfectly !!!!
This 1999 album of Mexican/Ranchero/Mariachi standards is excellent. Placido sings these songs the way they were meant to be sung, with such desire, passion, and heartbreak. Includes such classics as "Ella", "Ay Jalisco No Te Rajes", "Tequila Con Limon", "Paloma Querida", "Yo Soy Mexicano", "De Que Manera Te Olvido", "Ay Mas Fuerte Que Yo", among others. These versions are some of the best i've ever heard next to the originals.
