After having spent the the mid-'80s putting on his acting shoes for Absolute Beginners and Labyrinth, Bowie returned to music by grabbing his usual henchmen Carlos Alomar and Carmine Rojas and joining forces with old schoolmate Peter Frampton. NEVER LET ME DOWN found Bowie writing or co-writing everything with the exception of Iggy Pop's "Bang Bang." Songs such as "Day-In Day-Out" and "Time Will Crawl" were perfect Bowie songs that worked opposite ends of the spectrum; the everyday reality of a struggling woman living on the periphery of society versus the ambiguity of time itself. Although the creamy synths and slick production are occasional reminders that NLMD was cut in the '80s, these flourishes work especially well on "Zeroes" and the title track. The only hint of indulgence comes in the semi-mythical "Glass Spider" and the rap duet vignette with Mickey Rourke (!) that Bowie drops into the middle of "Shining Star (Makin' My Love)." After that chilling encounter, Bowie fled the solo life for the safer confines of Tin Machine in 1989.
Never Let Me Down is enhanced, digitally remastered and contains previously unseen or rare photographs in addition to many used in the original album with full lyrics. ***NOW AT BUDGET PRICE!!***

The sound is brilliant!
The eighties sound takes me way back and I never grow tired of listening to it. Everything David Bowie does is wonderful so I got exactely what I was expecting! Submitted by bowiepassion (Knoxville, Tennessee, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Bowie Never let us down Never Let Me Down is probably the most pilloried album of Bowie's career. And yet it is not really that bad-it's probably his most consistent album, even if it's his most consistently average.
Kicking off with hit single Day-In,Day-Out,the album immediately sets out its stall as a bright, poppy, synthy 80's rock album. the rather frothy Day-In... is followed by what is probably the album's most troubling and dark songs, the haunting Time Will Crawl, which chronicles the 20th century's obsession with pushing the limits of man, evinced in the couplet about making a jet pilot fly "Til He Burst".Beat Of Your Drum passes undisturbingly,a harmless, competent pop song. Never Let Me Down(The Song) is a beautiful ballad for David's manager,Coco Schwabb, and is really quite touching. This is chased by the most heavy-hitting song of the set,Zeroes, which by way of some fantastic chrod sequences, manages to be quite devastating.
Glass Spider is the song of this part of Bowie's career that is probably the most reviled, although this still mystifies me. the gorgeous, ethereal spoked intro to the song is exquisite, especially the comment on the spiders "Blue eyes, like a human's,that wept at the wintered turn of the centuries" which is utterly heartbreaking,as is the peice about the spider's ornaments of bones, dewdrops and crystals, which,as the wind blew, emitted "Tiny wails,Tiny cries".
Side two of the album slides seamlessly into sameyness, but side one makes up for it,and there are no real stinkers in the set. although it may not be my favourite Bowie CD,it is far from bad,and gets

Never Let Me Down CD music
$11.69 Though he continued to evolve throughout his career, Bowie's post-SCARY MONSTERS output was markedly less stellar than his acclaimed '70s work. LET'S DANCE, however, is arguably his most memorable '80s recording. It didn't hurt that he reached out to some talented friends, like Stevie Ray Vaughan (who makes his recorded debut here as lead guitarist) ...

Following the enormous success of the vibrant and upbeat LET'S DANCE, David Bowie's follow-up TONIGHT was a slicker yet more enigmatic-sounding collection. Full of synthesizers and polite Arif Mardin arrangements, this record allowed Bowie to indulge himself, even if that meant not putting ...
| | David Bowie Pin Ups CD (1973) Enhanced CD
Never Let Me Down songs
$11.15 PIN UPS is an album of songs originally performed by the Pretty Things, Them, the Yardbirds, Pink Floyd, the Mojos, the Who, the Easybeats, the Merseybeats and the Kinks.
PIN UPS served as a sort of "how to" guide to David Bowie's career. This all-covers album shed light on his ability to adopt personas and emulate musical genres with amazing speed and diversity. It also showed that Bowie was anticipating a different musical climate for the rest of the decade, signifying a change from what was admired during the 1960s.
The psychedelic overtones ...

Never Let Me Down music CDs
$39.39 Having long explored the ins and outs of psychedelia, the Brian Jonestown Massacre now delve deep into the gloaming world of pop. Bravery, Repetition and Noise is a darkly dreamy album, rich in atmospheres, layered in waves of sound, moody pop for disillusioned people. The album's antecedents are clear, the gloomy post-punk Brit bands whose angst shuddered out across the airwaves in the late '70s through the early '80s. Of course, many of those groups were as inspired by psychedelia as they were by punk's nihilism, ...
| | Victor Manuelle Le Preguntaba A La Luna CD (2002)
Never Let Me Down songs
$9.09 LE PREGUNTABA A LA LUNA was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Salsa/Merengue Album.
By the time of this album, Victor Manuelle had long been a household name in Latin music circles, carving out an individualistic path as a salsero with a energetically rough-hewn vocal style that's matched on LE PREGUNTABA A LA LUNA by Jorge Fonseca's tight, brass-heavy production. The insidiously danceable "En Nombre De Los Dos" makes for a subtle opener, but Manuelle really hits his stride with "El Tonto Que No Te Olvido," which snakes its way through four-and-a-half minutes of punchy, brassy excitement. "Ella" starts out in a down-tempo ...
| | Joan Baez David's Album CD (1969)
Never Let Me Down album
$15.05 Although 1969's DAVID'S ALBUM is named in honor of Joan Baez's then-husband, jailed draft protester David Harris, it's oddly enough one of her least political albums. Recorded in Nashville--at about the same time as Bob Dylan's NASHVILLE SKYLINE, an album which this strongly resembles--with country music veterans like Pete Drake, Jerry Kennedy and even country-pop songwriter and sometime-actor Jerry Reed, DAVID'S ALBUM is a fairly straightforward country-rock album. A version of the classic Bill Monroe arrangement of the gospel standard "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" is a highlight, as is the first of several versions Baez recorded of Gram Parson's country-rock masterpiece "Hickory Wind." The arrangements sometimes sound a bit ...
