The Geto Boys' classic single, "Mind Playing Tricks on Me," was all over MTV and the airwaves when Scarface released his first solo album in the fall of 1991, billed as Scarface of the Geto Boys. Although it didn't see anything close to the crossover success that his group's albums had achieved, MR. SCARFACE IS BACK nevertheless was hugely popular in the south, especially in his native Houston, and garnered respect throughout the national hip-hop community. It proved without a doubt who was the most talented of the Geto Boys; his frank depictions of crime, drugs, and street life, delivered with an effortless flow, easily held their own against the L.A. gangstas of the time. In fact, Scarface sounds not unlike a young Ice Cube, especially when he furthers the story of "Tricks on Me"'s paranoid pessimist in "Diary of a Madman." In its own homegrown way, MR. SCARFACE IS BACK is as essential as any classic of the gangsta era.

Mr. Scarface Is Back album
$15.95 R. was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. "I'm Your Angel" was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals. "When A Woman's Fed Up" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
R. Kelly proves that he's as prolific as he is talented on the two-disc set R., which not only culls together his most noteworthy and successful work, but is bursting with new tracks as well. Filled from start to finish with Kelly's unique blend of smooth vocal stylings and no-nonsense lyrical stance, this album also features the work of a few of his prominent friends--the opener, "Home Alone" sports a guest rap courtesy of Keith Murray, while "Money Makes The World Go Round" is graced by Nas.
A more mainstream pairing is witnessed in the dramatic show stopper "I'm your Angel," which finds Kelly alongside superstar Celine Dion, but the collaboration which really makes its mark is "We Ride," which features Cam'Ron, Noreaga, Jay-Z and Vegas Cats in a veritable who's who of Hip Hop's brightest stars. As if all this weren't enough, the mega-hit "I Believe I Can Fly" is included for good measure. Newcomers ...
| | Scarface World Is Yours CD (1993)
Mr. Scarface Is Back CD music
$11.69 Scarface once again quickly follows a Geto Boys album, Till Death Do Us Part, with a solo release, The World Is Yours, just as he'd done two years earlier with his brilliant solo debut, Mr. Scarface Is Back. The circumstances are otherwise quite different, though. Scarface had been on a roll in 1991: fresh off the breakthrough success of "Mind Playing Tricks on Me" and its similarly well-received Geto Boys album, We Can't Be Stopped, he unveiled a cinematic, somewhat conceptual solo debut that made him a bona fide national superstar. Furthermore, much changed within the rap world between 1991-1993, specifically the end of free-for-all sampling and the widespread proliferation of gangsta rap. Scarface thus delivers a follow-up that's a huge leap forward from his debut, both in terms of production and rhetoric. He works here mostly with producer N.O. Joe, ...

Though posthumous albums are often only a record company's vision of how to make more money, 2PAC's GREATEST HITS is just what it promises; a collection of all his hottest tracks, chart toppers, and street jams. Tracks from his time spent on both Interscope Records and Death Row Records are included, as are three previously unreleased tracks, "Unconditional Love," ...
| | Ice Cube Bootlegs & B-Sides CD (1994)
Mr. Scarface Is Back songs
$11.85 Once again Ice Cube commits you to check yo self, yo tapes, yo CDs and yo wax. BOOTLEGS & B-SIDES gives up what you missed by only buying the long-playing releases and not the singles; providing essential obscurities and miscellaneous collectibles (i.e. remixes and b-sides galore). And Cube-style remixes do not just add samples and beats, but mark the creation of entirely new tracks with various loop and lyrical changes. So if you thought the ballad-like "What Can I Do?" was nice and warm the first time around, beware the included remix which drops with more of a hardcore funk feel.
The b-sides represent Ice Cube doing what he does best--telling stories. The tales range from "sexual escapades" ("2 N The Morning") to being condemned because of one's skin tone ("My Skin Is My Sin"). All ...

$15.19 We're a three piece from Aurora Illinois. Luke and I (Liam) met in high school through a mutual friend who we'll call Saint Alexander (the patron saint of philanthropy toward sloppy but talented local musicians) the name of the band was Luke's Idea. | | Johnny Dangerous White Hot CD (2008)
Mr. Scarface Is Back CD music
$11.39 "What's wrong with gettin' dirty if you clean up well??" sneers two-time Outmusic Award nominee Johnny Dangerous with a sexy raised brow on his explosive #1 MTV/Logo single, "Dirty Is The New Black." It's a slogan that fits the self-described faggot MC like a luscious pair of buttery leather pants, lyrics delivered with the trademark slippery ease that catapulted him into cult status within the gay community in part thanks to heavy rotation on the LOGO Network. And now this recent success has led America's favorite queer rapper to take on the rest of the world, coming as no surprise to those who've followed him since his days on New York’s first-ever Peace Out Homohop Festival tour, the widely publicized first ever Homorevolution Tour and since appearing in the pages of URB Magazine, The Advocate, Unzipped, Instinct, Attitude and more.Dangerous' sophomore LP, "White Hot" channels vintage Beastie Boys, Salt-N-Pepa and J. J. Fad, and unfortunately for the haters, our potty-mouthed protagonist has not gone soft in the least! Johnny tackles the issues within his own experiences with censorship, the gay media, the War, suburban swingers and cheating lovers -- the latter done superbly on the cheeky first single, “Take Your Man." All this brazen confidence and blazing wit adds up to a dirty electro-pop rap sound that frames Johnny's sexified ...
