(3 Customer Reviews)
The trio of A.K., N.A.R.D and Belo, otherwise known as Do Or Die, has been branding the hip-hop game with its unique style since the mid-'90s. VICTORY is this Chicago trio's third album.
Hardcore tracks like "VIP," "Ride," and "Bounce For Me" are balanced by "Stay Focused," a spiritual offering, while guest appearances from Ja Rule ("Murderers, Pimps & Thugs"), The Outlawz ("Thuggin' it Out"), and Johnny P ("Keep It Real") keep the talent curve steep. VICTORY also sports contributions from big time players E-40, Irv Gotti, and Fatal, with other highlights such as "Who Knows," "If U Scared" and the title track hard evidence that VICTORY is a solid, polished and mature effort from cats from the Windy City that don't mess around.
Additional personnel includes: Swing (vocals); Ja Rule, Snypaz, Feloney, Johnny P., Fatal (rap vocals).
Producers include: Mr. Lee, Day Rock, Mike Dunn, Irv Gotti, J.B.

Rolling Stone (10/26/00, p.116) - 3 stars out of 5 - "...[They] try on different thug themes...like they're trying to score at a singles bar....making G's one minute...and embodying the hardcore G the next..." The Source (4/00, pp.210,214) - 3 mics out of 5 - "...fans will remain loyal to the Chi-Town playas. By adding just enough new flavor to the laid-back beats and rapid-fire flow, they keep their studio pimpin' game tight." Victory Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) -Tight Cd- -This One Is Also A Good Cd Got It When It First Came Out Still Bump It Get This One Also Nothing But Heat From Do Or Die 1- Submitted by whitefolk51724 (Lansing Michigan) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Victory To be honest, this is not one of their better abums but the songs "Victory" and "Make It Hot" are such tight songs that no Do Or Die fan will be dissapointed. Im not saying that this is a bad album by any means, just that it could have been better. Do Or Die still delivers their signature spitfire lyrics that are just as good as before. Ch..ch..cha..ch..check it out. Submitted by kingkong (Portland, OR, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Victory album
$15.95 R. was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. "I'm Your Angel" was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals. "When A Woman's Fed Up" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
R. Kelly proves that he's as prolific as he is talented on the two-disc set R., which not only culls together his most noteworthy and successful work, but is bursting with new tracks as well. Filled from start to finish with Kelly's unique blend of smooth vocal stylings and no-nonsense lyrical stance, this album also features the work of a few of his prominent friends--the opener, "Home Alone" sports a guest rap courtesy of Keith Murray, while "Money Makes The World Go Round" is graced by Nas.
A more mainstream pairing is witnessed in the dramatic show stopper "I'm your Angel," which finds Kelly alongside superstar Celine Dion, but the collaboration which really makes its mark is "We Ride," which features Cam'Ron, Noreaga, Jay-Z and Vegas Cats in a veritable who's who of Hip Hop's brightest stars. As if all this weren't enough, the mega-hit "I Believe I Can Fly" is included for good measure. Newcomers to the world of R. Kelly will be attracted by the hits, but they're sure to stay for the instant classics and star-studded party jams which make ...

$10.69 Even though they're from the Midwest, traditionally not one of the strongholds of gangsta rap, Do or Die isn't one of the most distinctive gangsta outfits. They fall prey to the same pimp-money-blunts-'n'-hoes formula that plagues gangsta rap, which might make the disc a little frustrating even to aficionados of the style. However, this time they have managed to come up with a ...

Though posthumous albums are often only a record company's vision of how to make more money, 2PAC's GREATEST HITS is just what it promises; a collection of all his hottest tracks, chart toppers, and street jams. Tracks from his time spent on both Interscope Records and Death Row Records are included, as are three previously unreleased tracks, "Unconditional Love," "God Bless the Dead" and "Troublesome '96."
Among the numerous hits from 2PAC on this generous two-CD set are "Brenda's Got a Baby"; "Keep Your Head Up"; "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted," featuring Snoop Dogg; and "How Do ...

Victory songs
$9.79 Digitally remastered by James P. Nichols (RCA Recording Studios, New York, New York).
GET IT RIGHT presents the '80s Aretha; the Aretha of "Jump to It," and "Freeway of Love." Having left behind the gritty soul and Gospel sounds of her early work as well as the discofied sounds of her late-'70s efforts, Franklin moved toward a funky, synth-oriented sound in the early-'80s. Though much of the rhythm and melody here is electronically derived, there's no lack of feeling in Franklin's performances. It's virtually impossible for Aretha to invest anything less than her all in a recording, and GET IT RIGHT is no exception. Most of the songs here were written by Luther Vandross and Marcus Miller (the former produced and the latter contributed bass and keys), and while the approach is straight-ahead '80s pop/R&B, the delivery is all Aretha, eminently soulful.
Cobbs, Fonzi Thorton, Luther Vandross, Cissy Houston, Myrna Smith, Darlene Love, Paulette McWilliams, Sandra Richardson, Brenda Corbett, Margaret Branch (background vocals).
Recorded at Mediasound, New York, New York and The Record Plant, Los Angeles, California.
The Smith Connection: Michael Lovesmith, Danny Dedasual Smith, Arron T. Smith (background vocals).
Reissue producer: Nedra Olds-Neal.

Victory music CDs
$16.65 Thoughtful, earnest, maybe a touch preachy in parts -- folk music has its own particular standards to live up to (or alternately transcend). Bill Garrett and Sue Lothrop's album certainly starts on that note with a cover of a song called "No More Fish." On the one hand, it addresses a serious enough subject -- the depletion of Atlantic fishing stocks that drove Far Eastern Canada's economy and the resultant hard times -- and on the other hand it's so prettily obvious that it could be a parody. Some clunky rhymes don't help either, frankly, but that and a couple of other well-meaning (though strident) songs aside, Red Shoes is an enjoyable enough, if not remarkable, example of early 21st century ...
