(5 Customer Reviews)
Relieved from the pressures of having to record a hit single, Gary Moore cuts loose on some blues standards as well as some newer material. Moore plays better than ever, spitting out an endless stream of fiery licks that are both technically impressive and soulful. It's no wonder Still Got the Blues was his biggest hit. ~ David Jehnzen

Gary Moore at his best! Gary is still one of the best blues players around today. From the up beat and alive "Texas Blues" to the more reserved and hauntingly beautiful "As the years go passing by", this album is a must for all blues and Gary Moore fans. Great move What once was the floor, now's the ceiling... A fresh new start to a talented guitarist, finally receiveing the commercial and critical success he always deserved. Powerful and hungry, Gary demonstrates the ABC to the power blues guitar apprentices. Essential/classic CD. Submitted by Daniel Orlandini (Encantado-RS, Brasil) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The blues for evermore This was one of the albums that first got me into the blues. I can remember buying it when I was 13 and listening to "Oh Pretty woman", "Walking by myself", "Texas strut", "Midnight blues", Please stop messing round" and "Moving on" religiously right through until the age of 17. Gary Moore may not have the sheer elegance and sincerity of Eric Clapton, but he makes up for it in flamboyance and energy - this album is high powered blues with awesome guitar solos throughout. I've been forming blues/rock bands ever since I was 15, and I've always insisted that we do a cover of "Oh pretty woman". Thank you for your blues, Mr Moore. Gary Moore playing the blues in turbo mode I recently saw Gary Moore at the Bishopstock Blues festival and he still includes many of these songs in his " Blues " set, sheer magic brought to some blues standards played with a masters touch with a blend of speed, power and yet still mountains of soul. | | Muddy Waters Folk Singer CD (1964) Remastered
Still Got The Blues CD music
$8.49 Ultradiscs are mastered from the original master tapes using Mobile Fidelity's proprietary mastering technique, then plated with 24-karat gold and housed in a stress-resistant lift-lock jewel box.
"You Can't Lose What You Ain't Never Had" and "The Same Thing" did not appear on the original version of FOLK SINGER. They were recorded at a separate session in April 1964, three months after FOLK SINGER was released.
The title and cover photo of this 1963 recording were an attempt to cash in on the burgeoning American folk revival, but this is pure acoustic blues. Muddy began his career as a Robert Johnson-style solo acoustic performer, and the tunes on FOLK SINGER hark back to those days. He's ...

Still Got The Blues songs
$6.39 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts ...
| | Mike Bloomfield Super Session CD (1968) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Still Got The Blues album
$6.75 A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's Shuffle," "You Don't Love Me"), to heady jams ("His Holy Modal Majesty"), to big-band jazz ("Harvey's Tune").
All the tunes make effective templates for the kind off-the-cuff music-making that in less capable hands might have resulted in simple noodling. In fact, although Bloomfield and Stills don't play together on any of the cuts (Bloomfield played on one side of the original LP, Stills on the other), all three principals get off lots of good licks and producer Kooper has some interesting tricks up his sleeve, as in the over-the-top ...

| | Duffy Bishop Band Fly The Rocket CD (1999)
Still Got The Blues songs
$13.15 This tight band plays vintage '70s-style R&B with energy and conviction, a staunch mixture of urbanized city blues cross-pollinated with rock & roll, and just a dash of the rural blues that evolved into swing music. This is the horn-driven music prevalent in the small, smoky clubs of the South, music that was about getting dancers out onto the floor to strut their stuff, and as such is slower and more pushing to propel the body on the dance floor. The heartfelt quality of the songs comes shining through off the disc, which stems from the fact that the band, in one aggregation or another, wrote all but one of the songs. One song that truly leaps out is the tortured "Pain," which was co-written by Duffy Bishop and Eddie Gahr, and sung with the conviction of one who has experienced the depths of the emotions they are singing about. The horn charts here stand as a perfect complement to the pain echoed in the voice. Some of the songs are also written with a playful sense of humor; listen to "Fly the Rocket," and the images drawn up fit perfectly with the cover art's sense of kitsch. The backup singing by Duffy Bishop is fuller and ...

Still Got The Blues songs
$9.49 Tom McFarland was a blues fixture in the Pacific Northwest and the Bay Area until his death in 2004. So it's perhaps apt that this CD reissue of his first album, recorded in 1978, now finds its way out. That he was a devotee of B.B. King is apparent in the way he uses his guitar to punctuate ...
