Jess Stacy gets the Topaz treatment
This compilation offers a nice over-view of the underrated pianist's recording career. Stacy is heard with the orchestras of Benny Goodman and Bob Crosby as well as on several solo recordings, including "Ramblin'", "Complainin'", "Ain't Goin' Nowhere", and his interpretations of three of Bix Beiderbecke's known piano compositions, "Candlelights" (my favorite) and a medley of "In the Dark" and "Flashes." (The fourth one, "In a Mist" is not here but a live version was issued on an ASV compilation also entitled "Ec-Stacy").
