| | Kol Simcha Klezmer Soul CD Kol Simcha Discography of CDs
Swiss klezmer group Kol Simcha, steeped in jazz and classical traditions, brings us a reflective and sublime side of the "klezmer soul." In the rush to join in the energetic Yiddish folk dance, Kol Simcha seek to remind us of the sweetly aching klezmer ballad. Clarinets, bass, piano, string section and percussion are used to bring these tuneful balms to life. This is a collection of the slow pieces from Kol Simcha's first four releases. Klezmer Soul is a beautiful exploration of the plaintive, spiritual side of klezmer. ~ Tom Schulte

John Coltrane's maiden voyage for Atlantic Records was the fulfillment of all the potential he'd demonstrated with Miles, Monk and on his own Prestige recordings. Recorded in May 1959 (one month after completing Davis' KIND OF BLUE), GIANT STEPS is Coltrane's first recital to feature nothing but his own original compositions, and is the culmination of his obsessive foray into harmony. By taking all of the notes in a chord--and trying to find every possible inversion and relevant substitution--the saxophonist was forced to develop a complex ...

$7.99 Bernard is a native of Joliet, IL who currently resides in Brooklyn Center, MN. Back in the late eighties Bernard use to DJ at local house parties before really introduced to the rap game. Being a drummer by nature, Bernard started producing tracks and playing them at parties. The response from people was so tremendous, that the public wanted Bernard's original tracks for themselves. Bernard loved listening to the different styles and creativeness that was coming from the artists from both the east and west coast. After coming across the album 'PAID IN FULL' by Eric B. & Rakim, Bernard was blown away from the style, and delivery from the two. Never thought of becoming a rapper, but more of a professional DJ, Bernard decided to try to put his writing ability to the test. Performing in talent shows, and on the streets as āB. LIVEā, Bernard had made a name for himself. What started off as an occasional writer, became a full time job for Bernard. Wherever there was a stage or microphone, B. LIVE was there! Whether it be in Chicago, Wisconsin, St.Louis, or on the college campuses, B. LIVE was there to give a show. After graduating from high school, Bernard left the streets of Joliet and went on to enlist in the United States Navy. Stationed in Norfolk, VA, Bernard went on to display his style of rhyming to the folks on the east coast. Whether on base or off, Bernard's shipmates recognized him as B. LIVE. During the four years of serving his country, B. LIVE performed in front of thousands of people, both state side, and in different countries overseas. Upon Bernard's honorable discharge, he performed in a show as the opening act for Teddy Reily's group WRECKS-N-EFFECT ...

$16.69 Teddy Brent's eagerly awaited debut album featuring his hit songs 'Vanity' and 'The Most Beautiful Eyes'. check out the hottest new R&B sensation.Teddy Brent, an acomplished R&B vocalist returns with his second CD produced by Joel Kass. With the hits "Vanity" and "The Most Beautiful Eyes", this international release has proven a superb follow up to his first album.
Teddy Brent's heart is in the right place, no doubt about it. The songs on his debut album (most of them written by his producer and label head, Joel Kass) are lyrical throwbacks to the early '70s, the last time when soul had a widespread social and political conscience. Besides the usual love jams, songs like "Obsession's Track" and the title song cast a cool eye on excess in all forms, and it's hard to fault that. Unfortunately, what's not hard to fault is the Detroit-based singer's one-note vocal style and grating, overused tics. The opening verse of the title track is genuinely painful to listen to, with a stilted, awkward flow built around several deeply misguided long-held notes on which Brent almost immediately ...
