Recorded in Paris, France in November of 1962, this captures Slim and Dixon on one of their many European jaunts, this time working with drummer Phillipe Combelle to an appreciative crowd. The vocals are split fairly evenly between the two singers, and although several of the titles here are wrong (Dixon's "Do the Do" is spelled "Do De Do" and "Shame Pretty Girls" is actually "Pretty Girls"), it's a very enthusiastic set by this trio that moves right along, capped off with a slam-bang rendition of Slim's "All by Myself." A nice one. ~ Cub Koda

| | Allman Brothers Band Dreams CDs (1989) Box Set
Baby Please Come Home! music CDs
$38.09 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, thus attracting buyers seeking the ultimate hits package, and including enough unreleased tracks and rarities to appeal to the band's most devoted fans. As a result, DREAMS is neither the definitive Allman Brothers collection nor the gift to hardcore fans that, say, THE BOOTLEG SERIES is to Dylan-philes.
DREAMS' strengths are considerable. First and foremost, the ...

| | Mark Knopfler Shangri-La CD (2004) DVD-A; Wdva
Baby Please Come Home! album
$21.35 There's a wealth of unusual topics on offer here; "Boom, Like That" is a first-person monologue by Knopfler in the voice of Ray Kroc, the man behind the McDonald's fast-food empire. The bluesy "Song for Sonny Liston" chronicles the famed boxer's brushes with the underworld. "Donegan's Gone" laments the passing of British folk/skiffle pioneer Lonnie Donegan, a key influence on Knopfler and scores of other British rockers. Departing from the more folk-oriented sound of its predecessor, THE RAGPICKER'S DREAM, SHANGRI-LA more fully develops the detail-oriented, ...

Baby Please Come Home! music CDs
$12.79 Incredibly weird title (many of the songs sport equally bizarre spellings), but a major step back in the right direction for the guitarist, whose dirty, distorted tone won't thrill the purists. ~ Bill Dahl
We invite you to hear Jimmy Dawkins belt through his unique style of Chicago Blues on this album, which stands up to, if not exceeds his previous works. Jimmy is known for his blistering guitar chops and killer tone which leave guitar fans and blues fans alike both surprised and excited. You will not be disappointed!"Jimmy ...

Baby Please Come Home! songs
$15.19 Adam is a recording artist currently residing in the Los Angeles area whose life has been split evenly between California and New York. His music career began in the 5th grade when Adam took up the Alto Saxophone.  Despite the move to an instrument well known for jazz, he was instead trained in the classical style.  Apart from formal training on the Sax, Adam became a multi-instrumentalist by teaching himself to play keyboards, mandolin, guitar, and bass (in that order, no less). To go along with the variety of instruments, Adam also has an eclectic taste in music ranging from Mussourgsky to Metallica and everywhere in between.  His love of classical and popular music alike has given him a unique style and sound.  By the 7th grade, he started building a fully digital home studio that is still growing today.  Being a technology lover, Adam found the marriage of computers and music to be an inspiring one ...
