Full performer name: Barney Kessel/Shelly Manne/Ray Brown. Personnel: Barney Kessel (guitar); Ray Brown (bass); Shelly Manne (drums). Recorded in September 1960. Personnel: Barney Kessel (guitar); Shelly Manne (drums). Audio Remasterer: Joe Tarantino. Liner Note Author: Lester Koenig. Recording information: Contemporary Records' Studio, LA, CA (08/30/1960-09/01/1960); Contemporary's Studios, Los Angeles, CA (08/30/1960-09/01/1960). Photographer: William Claxton. For one of their better outings, the Poll Winners (guitarist Barney Kessel, bassist Ray Brown, and drummer Shelly Manne) perform nine fairly recent jazz standards. It is ironic that this is their only release not yet reissued on CD, since it may very well be their strongest program. The trio performs creative versions of such songs as "Little Susie," "So What," "Doodlin'," "This Here," and Ornette Coleman's "The Blessing." Worth searching for. ~ Scott Yanow Exploring The Scene Music Ray Brown / Barney Kessel / Shelly Manne Exploring The Scene Songs Exploring The Scene Review

It's new music, built to last, with roots in a Detroit garage and branches spanning the Colorado Rockies and beyond. In partnering with Ben Jansen’s gifted musicianship and production acumen, Xiren is able to maximize their creative vision and remain the driving force behind self-engineered albums and live shows. The front man, Xiren, was born with the same kind of old-world resolve and ingenuity his father embodied during his migrant journey to America, and combines his work ethic, technological know-how and clever use of resources ...
