Extreme Volume is as much a reference to Racer X's ability to pack as many notes as possible into a given measure as it is to the loudness of their concerts. Racer X took all the excesses of '80s heavy metal and pushed them to the point of parody. That said, this live document of the Los Angeles quintet's jaw-dropping instrumental virtuosity is absolutely essential to any fan of the "shred guitar" subgenre of '80s heavy metal. Hearing the band execute this material live is quite an experience. Each song is packed with evidence of this band's sheer technical velocity; the dual-guitar harmony solos by Paul Gilbert and Bruce Bouillet (played at top speed) are a must-hear, and the octave-busting vocal harmonies are wonderfully over the top, as well. And, as one might expect, each member gets his own solo spot.  An intense live performance!
Great live performance by Racer X! I would have liked to have songs like "Hammer Away", "Rock It", "Getaway", "Scarified", or "On The Loose" on this live album. Those are killer Racer X songs that would have sounded awesome if they were recorded on this live album. Jeff Martin is an excellent front man and the crowd loves him. I like how Bruce, John, Paul, and Scott all have featured solos on this live recording. You get to hear the song "Frenzy" inside of Paul's Solo. John's Bass Solo is one of the best tracks on this album. I like Scott Travis' hyperspeed drumming but I liked Harry Ghoessher's drumming more. He had control, balance, and intensity mixed together that flowed smoother than Travis' drumming. You also get 3 tracks that are not available on any of the other Racer X albums. If you enjoy listening to guitarists like Eddie Van Halen, Nuno Bettencourt(I think I spelled his last name wrong), Yngwie Malmsteem, or Vinnie Vincent, this recording is a must have! One word to describe Racer X would be intensity!

AWESOME LIVE RECORDING!
This is essential Racer X! The band play a smokin' show and the sound is great! Recorded earlier in their career, you can tell the band is in top form. Paul,Bruce,John & Scott all perform solo's. A must have for any Racer X fan!

On the Continent brings together every single track Cliff Richard recorded for exclusive European release -- that is, those he recorded in each of the four foreign languages deemed representative of his biggest non-English markets: German, French, Italian, and Spanish. And if the idea of hearing "Congratulations" rendered into any one (or, in fact, all four) of those tongues does not immediately strike you as compulsive entertainment, then you probably don't need to know that the collection does not end with released material. Outtakes and alternates also creep in, for a total of 102 tracks spread across four discs (the fifth recalls an early-'60s interview with the German magazine Bravo). And there is also a beautifully designed 96-page hardback book, recounting the singer's European adventures in words, pictures, and record covers, plus a full sessionography covering the collection's contents. It was EMI's German office that first suggested, in December 1960, that Richard record a unique German language version of his latest hit, "Fall in Love With You," as a gift to his local fans; it was the immediate success of the venture that prompted a follow-up just three months later, "Theme for a Dream." Both of these singles, in their original form, have remained Holy Grails of a kind for collectors: "Fall in Love" for its totally rearranged backing track; "Theme" for its exclusive B-side, "Vrenelli." And both remained isolated offerings for another couple of years -- it would be 1963 before Richard again attempted a foreign language, when the unprecedented continental success of Summer Holiday demanded a slew of immediate follow-ups. Comprising a mixture of both new material and re-recordings of familiar hit songs, When in Spain was performed completely in Spanish, When in France in French, and When in Rome in Italian. The record label Cuneiform is quite good at flushing out young groups who will strengthen its conception of what avant-garde progressive rock is or should be. Sotos, a French group with one previous album under their belt, embodies what good, inventive musicians can do best with the heritage of King Crimson, Magma, and Univers Zero. The two long chamber rock pieces presented on Platypus show strong influences from these mammoths, but also from fellow countrymen Philarmonie (in guitarist Yan Hazera's playing) and Nebelnest (in the prominent role the rhythm section plays).
