All Instrumental Collection; W/Aynsley Dunbar & John Onder
Personnel: Michael Schenker (guitar); John Onder (bass); Ansley Dunbar (drums). Personnel: Michael Schenker (guitar); Michael Schenker; John Onder (bass guitar); Aynsley Dunbar (drums). Audio Mixer: Ralph Patlan. Recording information: Prairie Sun Recording. Photographer: Steve Jennings. UFO guitarist extraordinaire Michael Schenker is back with his first all-instrumental effort. He teased listeners in his early UFO days with instrumentals like "Lipstick Traces" and "Arbory Hill." Now Schenker fans get a full platter. Gone are the trademark Schenker rapid fire chops, but the melodic chord structures are still intact. Backed by the legendary Aynsley Dunbar (ex-Journey member) on drums and Jaohn Onder on bass, Schenker has a very solid rhythm section to work with. Standout tracks are "Three Fish Dancing," "Aardvark in a VW Smoking a Cigar," and "Old Man With Sheep on Mars." This is not necessarily an all that imaginative adventure, but Schenker purists will enjoy the trip. ~ Joseph Scotti

Schenker Does Not Disappoint Michael delivers another solid all instrumental work.
Who the hell needs a singer when you can play a guitar like that.

Just like he's always been.. Micheal schenker rocks. If you have been a fan of this guitar player for any length of time be sure to pick this one up. Great guitar work, and a bit psychadelic. Submitted by a reviewer (Estacada, Oregon) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Very, very good indeed This album has three fantastic highlights in my view: the second track; the second to last track; and the end of track 7, 'Old Man with Sheep on Mars'. The outro solo on track 7 is beautiful - transcendent - to the point that I suspect that only Schenker could either write it or play it. It marks one of those occasional moments where Schenker seems to catch a glimpse of the divine, utterly surpassing and pouring contempt on the all-too-human vanity fest of 'guitar-battles' or shred-to-impress. 'Open Gate' is also a delightful track, something that the average rock band could never even conceive of. In fact, I doubt if even a band like Rush could conceive of it. The rest of the album is first class material, if occasionally flawed. If this record was submitted for a music degree, I would have to award a double first. Michael's Masterpiece ! This is one smooth and skillful disc. I wondered if Michael was capable of evolving from his headbanging UFO ways and he sure can. What took you so long, Michael? Stay the course, this stuff is brilliant! Submitted by Mark Alan G. (Texas) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Adventures Of The Imagination
$11.69 UFO: Paul Raymond (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Phil Mogg (vocals); Michael Schenker (guitar); Pete Way (bass); Andy Parker (drums). Producer: Ron Nevison. Reissue producer: David K. Tedds. Recorded live at The Amphitheatre, Chicago, Illinois; The Gardens, Louisville, Kentucky and in Youngstown, Ohio. Includes liner notes by Jon Sutherland. Digitally remastered by Bob Norberg (Capitol Mastering). Unfortunately, this concert album is often overlooked when discussions of the great live rock albums of the '70s arise. UFO's Strangers in the Night deserves to be right up there with Kiss' Alive! and Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous, based on the excitement the group and its audience generate and due to the quality of the hard rock compositions. This is a band at its peak, with its prime lineup (led by German guitar-monger Michael Schenker) and all of its best songs. The group paces itself at the beginning, opting for some lesser material, but begins to hit a stride on the early track "Doctor Doctor." "Mother Mary" and "This Kids" combine ...

Adventures Of The Imagination
$10.25 This remastered edition of UFO's 1975 album FORCE IT contains "Let It Roll," "Mother Mary," Shoot Shoot," and more. If UFO has one addition to rock's pantheon of classic albums, this is it. FORCE IT builds on its predecessor, PHENOMENON, by taking the band further away from their fuzzier, space-rocking early records. Guitarist Michael Schenker's playing has a new toughness and clarity that perfectly frames the more melodic, hook-oriented songwriting he developed in tandem with singer Phil Mogg. With crisp rhythms and riffs that gallop squarely on the beat, FORCE IT provides the perfect snapshot for when post-Zeppelin/glam hard rock morphed into the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. A 2008 reissue includes one previously unreleased studio track--"Million Miles"--and five live versions of album cuts. Michael Schenker and Phil Mogg really started to find their groove as a songwriting team with their second album together (and fourth UFO release overall), Force It. In fact, the last remaining folk ...
