Tribute To Rolling Stones : Pickin' On The Rolling Stones: A Tribute CD

The CMH record's Pickin On series took the novel idea of studio musicians fusing together compositions from rock legends like Hendrix, Clapton, Neil Young, Aerosmith, and, in this case, the Rolling Stones and applying straight bluegrass arrangements to them. The novelty, however, wears off quickly on versions of "Paint It Black," "Jumpin Jack Flash," "Start Me Up," and "19th Nervous Breakdown" that incorporate five-string banjo, mandolin, Dobro, and fiddle. This release seems unnecessary except for the most ardent Stones fanatics only. ~ Al Campbell
