| | Romero / Torea Flamenco Fantasia: Tradition CD Romero / Torea Discography of CDs
Flamenco Fantasia exhibits the whole spectrum of the gypsy flamenco tradition. It is a passionate, lively work of song and dance. Featured are two great artists of the genre: guitarist Reuben Romero and dancer Lydia Torea, along with other singers and percussionists. The album captures the energy and spontaneity that often exist between dancer and guitarist. Each piece is an excellent example of the varied moods and styles of flamenco, from its roots in a structured Moorish sound to the newest experiments in the use of percussion in flamenco. ~ MusD

Purchase Flamenco Fantasia: Tradition CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Mavis Staples Spirituals & Gospel: Dedicated To Mahalia Jackson CD (1996)
Flamenco Fantasia: Tradition album
$16.29 Recorded in Louisiana, not terribly far from Mahalia Jackson's birthplace, this is a 13-song tribute to the legendary Queen of Gospel. Staples leads all the tracks with Lucky Peterson on the Hammond B-3 organ. This is a very bare-bones set, and after the fourth song, "If I Could Hear My Mother Pray Again," the format becomes boring and the songs begin to sound similar. There's nothing unique about these arrangements: Peterson's riffs ...
| | Grass Roots All Time Greatest Hits CD (1996)
Flamenco Fantasia: Tradition CD music
$7.19 This low-priced disc is far and away the best single-CD compilation ever issued of the Grass Roots' work, 16 chart singles covering every phase of their history, from 1966's "Where Were You When I Needed You" (in its actual hit version) thru "Let's Live for Today" and "Midnight Confessions" to their last hit, 1972's "The Runway." Listening to this 44-minute compilation, one not only encounters a superb array of catchy songs (and even some of the lesser hits, like the number 61-charting "Come On and Say It" and the number 34-charting "Glory Bound," are compelling pieces of soul-based pop/rock) but also virtuoso production and playing. The material has been remastered in state-of-the-art sound, giving one a chance to appreciate the production and engineering as well as the playing, which (regardless of whether it was provided by L.A.'s best session musicians or members of the actual band) is extraordinarily polished and quite powerful -- the piano, drums, ...

Flamenco Fantasia: Tradition songs
$8.89 Principally recorded on June 19-20, 1980. Includes liner notes by George Winston.
AUTUMN was superstar new age pianist George Winston's first album to sell more than 1,000,000 copies. Listening to these spare, emotionally rich pieces, it's easy to understand why. But it's also clear what sets Winston apart from ...

| | Claude Challe Buddha-Bar, Vol. II CDs
Flamenco Fantasia: Tradition CD music
$40.49 Claude Challe's Buddha-Bar, Vol. II compilation has elements of Far Eastern spirituality, African song, European electronica, and Spanish spice. The first album, Buddha-Bar, is very mellow for the most part. Deepak Chopra and Demi Moore, far and away the most recognizable names on the album, do a spoken word ditty on love and self-worth. People who are not fans of new age doctrine will appreciate artists such as Oliver Shanti and Consuelo Luz, both of whom contribute songs that manage to sound ...

Flamenco Fantasia: Tradition CD music
$14.29 Unlike the single-disc sets New Grass Anthology (1990) and The Best of New Grass Revival (1994), the double-CD Grass Roots: The Best of New Grass Revival does not restrict itself to the group's major-label catalog of EMI/Capitol recordings, circa 1986-1989, but instead also licenses tracks dating back to the band's first recordings in 1972. There are selections from the debut album, The Arrival of the New Grass Revival, originally released on Starday Records; from the Flying Fish LPs Fly Through the Country, Barren County, and Commonwealth; and from the Sugar Hill collections Live and On the Boulevard; in addition to material drawn from the EMI/Capitol albums New Grass Revival, Hold to a Dream, and Friday Night in America. There are also eight previously unreleased tracks, five of them live ...
