Ravel: Boléro; Daphnis Et Chloé; Ma Mère L'Oye; Valses Nobles Et Sentimentales
$13.65 Bob Crosby's best and most enjoyable working ensemble was a scaled-down version of his big band. Strongly steeped in traditional jazz and well-stocked with excellent improvisers, they were known to the world as the Bob Cats. Although other reissue labels have tried, Sounds of Yesteryear might have topped them all in 2008 by releasing the complete recordings of this solid little group in three installments. Vol. 1 hunkers down and concentrates upon sessions that took place between November 1937 and June 1939, which was an exceptionally good period for the Bob Cats. Crosby bore no weak links in his lineup. The ...

$10.45 Andrea Bocelli long ago set the standard for "crossover" classical tenors, and ANDREA proves yet again that when it comes to ultra-romantic singing, no one does it better. Longtime collaborators Francesco Sartori, Mauro Malavasi, and Celso Valli provide more of the soaring operatic-style ballads and lush production work familar to Bocelli's fans. "Dell'Amore Non Si Sa," "Liberta," and "Tu Ci Sei," among others, are tailor-made for his warm, rich tone and velvety phrasing. Bocelli also enlists ...

Hill House is a National Historic Landmark offering guided tours, educational programs, concerts, and art exhibits. Designed in the Richardsonian Romanesque style, the red sandstone residence was completed in 1891 for the family of Great Northern Railway 'Empire Builder' James J. Hill. The two-story skylit art gallery showcased Hill's extensive collection of French landscape paintings and included a tracker organ designed by George S. Hutchings of Boston. Music always played an important role at the house. The Hill daughters dutifully studied piano and violin, small orchestras and ensembles were engaged for receptions and dances, and the pipe organ was heard at family weddings and Hill's funeral in 1916. The association between the Hill House and The Schubert Club dates back to the earliest years of the home. In December 1892 the Hill family hosted a holiday music concert in the gallery: 'the members of The Schubert Club ...
