This is a Super Audio CD playable only on Super Audio CD players. Gershwin's World is a tour de force for Herbie Hancock, transcending genre and label, and ranking among the finest recordings of his lengthy career. Released to coincide with the 100th anniversary of George Gershwin's birth, this disc features jazzman Hancock with a classy collection of special guests. The most surprising of Hancock's guest stars is Joni Mitchell, who delivers a gorgeously sensual vocal on "The Man I Love," then provides an airy, worldly take on "Summertime." Great Violinists - Beethoven, Brahms / Heifetz
$13.19 Alicia Grugett, coloratura soprano, was born in Havana, Cuba. Her family came to the United States when she was very young, to escape a communist regime, and she is happy to be an American citizen. Ms. Grugett graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice and received her Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from the University of Michigan, both on scholarship. She has sung with the Miami Opera, the Pittsburgh Opera apprentice program, the New Jersey State Opera, the Capital City Opera (Atlanta), the Allentown Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony and has won numerous vocal competitions. After having left music for a while, to be a dedicated wife and mother, her love for singing has been rekindled. This has been due, in part, to her father's recent death. With his death, she has come to the realization that life is short, and we must seize every moment to do, and be, everything we are capable of. Now, newly inspired, she is ready to continue with her lifelong aspirations. She is currently releasing her debut CD which is a crossover album, incorporating songs sung by Josh Groban. The songs in this album include three in Italian: "Un Amore Per Sempre, "Gira Con Me" and "Mi Mancherai" which has a beautiful violin solo. One song is in her native Spanish language "Alejate" . The CD also includes a French song, entitled "Hymne A L'Amour", and two in English, "Broken Vow" and "To Where You Are", which she dedicates to her father, who has passed away. Her wish is to become a recording and touring artist in the new classical pop genre similar to Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, and Josh Groban, so that she may reach a wider audience.Alicia's singing is full of emotion, and she conveys to ...
