Frederick Delius: Orchestral Works
$10.69 Also available as part of the 2-CD Collectables box THE LEGEND AT HIS BEST!
Includes original LP liner notes and reissue liner notes by Mark Marymont.
One of several two-fer reissues of Percy Faith's classic Columbia LPs on the Collectables reissue label, TARA'S THEME/JEALOUSY combines two of the Toronto-born orchestra leader/arranger/producer's best-selling albums on one disc. TARA'S THEME, from 1961, is most notable for containing the original version of Faith's signature song, the gently swaying, instantly recognizable "Theme From A Summer Place," his biggest hit. The rest of the album, which is primarily composed of movie themes, is equally remarkable. JEALOUSY is a darker and more brooding affair, featuring stately but dramatic renditions of a dozen classic love songs.
This disc is also available as half of the PERCY FAITH: A LEGEND AND HIS MUSIC box set, along with the CAMELOT/MY FAIR LADY reissue.
2 LPs on 1 CD: TARA'S THEME (1961)/JEALOUSY (1960).
Personnel: Percy Faith (piano).
Liner Note Author: Mark Marymont.
| | Percy Faith Bouquet/Bouquet Of Love CD (1999)
Frederick Delius: Orchestral Works
$10.59 Possibly Percy Faith's two most famous LPs other than A SUMMER PLACE, 1959's BOUQUET and the 1961 sequel BOUQUET OF LOVE are quintessential Faith. Lushly orchestrated, with Faith's trademark keening strings, these two albums epitomize orchestral easy listening music. The song selection is heavy on the standards, including Johnny Mercer's "Laura," "The Song from Moulin Rouge," "Ebb Tide," Rodgers and Hart's "Blue Moon" and "Stella By Starlight." While the quality of the remastering job is very good, unfortunately, three songs were excised from BOUQUET OF LOVE for space considerations.
Includes liner notes by Mark Marymont.
2 LPs on 1 CD: BOUQUET (1959)/BOUQUET OF LOVE (1962).
