| The "Choral/Vocal" Lully Performed.
Those of us who have more than a passing acquaintance with the French Baroque and Mssr. Lully are certainly well aware of his orchestral music: i.e. ballet suites, etc. Here on this CD is demonstrated his versatility in the choral/vocal realm. Given that it is French Baroque, don't expect too much in the contrapuntal vein as with the German or Italian composers of the same era. Lully IS "Lully" after all. But these work certainly demonstrate all of the pomp and ritual of the court under Louis XIV. Excellent performance by Le Concert Spirituel, as usual.
