$7.35 | | Roger Waters - In The Flesh Live DVD (2001)
Chopin: Complete Piano Music Vol 3 / Idil Biret
$9.69 The mastermind of post-Syd Barrett Pink Floyd, Roger Waters mixed psychedelic rock with operatic sensibilities. IN THE FLESH LIVE is a high definition concert film which utilizes the most advanced audiovisual technology. Touring in the United States after a 12 year break, Waters performs dozens of his progressive hits from both his solo and Pink Floyd days, including "Mother," "Welcome to the Machine," "The Bravery of Being Out of Range," and the title track.
This video, taken from Waters' first USA tour in 12 years (1999-2000), was taken from the highly acclaimed "In the Flesh" show that presented, for the first time, a comprehensive overview of Waters music, including early Pink Floyd material, classical compositions, less well-known pieces, as well as the debut of a new song, "Each Small Candle." Special DVD features include 5.1 Dolby Digital and Surround Encoded PCM Stereo, a 30 minute behind-the-scenes documentary, band biography, still photos, projected images, lyrics, interactive menus and technical sound.
| | Mike Oldfield Tres Lunas CD (2002) (Import) Bonus CD; Bonus Track; Argentina
Chopin: Complete Piano Music Vol 3 / Idil Biret
$13.15 This CD by the the British art-rocker also includes a video game.
TRES LUNAS is certainly deserving of a wide audience, and not only for the presence of vocalist Jude Sim (most notably on the pop standout "To Be Free") and Oldfield's guitar-synth approximation of saxophone on the opening "Misty." The melodies are more focused than on some of Oldfield's other albums, while his occasional over-reliance on mood and texture is replaced by some powerfully emotional playing -- there are moments when his guitars leap out of the speakers with a passion that he once seemed to have forgotten. Overall, TRES LUNAS is an album that not only values its place in Oldfield's catalog, it deserves it as well.
Tres Lunas is the first of two 'chillout' albums of music from Mike's Virtual Reality game, Music VR. The CD comes with a CD-ROM containing Part 1 of Music VR and the bonus track 'To Be Free' (radio edit). 2002.
