Recording opportunities were scarce for Arnold stateside in 1984. But over in France, Black & Blue welcomed the harpist into their studios to cut this set, backed by guitarist Jimmy Johnson's professional outfit. Only a handful of originals here; the set is predominated by hoary standards such as "My Babe," "Just a Little Bit," "Last Night," and "I Done Got Over It" (but at least they're played with a bit more panache than usual). ~ Bill Dahl
Recording information: Sysmo Studio, Paris, France.
Photographers: Robert Barclay; Alain Schuster.
Personnel: Billy Boy Arnold (vocals, harmonica); John Watkins, Jimmy Johnson (guitar); James Bryant (piano); Fred Grady (drums).
Liner Note Author: Michael Point.

Ten Million Dollars album
$38.49 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, thus attracting buyers seeking the ultimate hits package, and including enough unreleased tracks and rarities to appeal to the band's most devoted fans. As a result, ...
| | Poco Forgotten Trail (1969-74) CDs (1990)
Ten Million Dollars CD music
$15.95 This compilation contains 38 songs, including many new remixes from original master tapes, 6 previously unreleased songs, alternate versions of 3 others, and a comprehensive 36 page booklet, with historic liner notes and photos.
This excellent two-disc collection captures Poco's finest moments from the days when they were laying down the template for all the country-rock music that was to follow. It's hard to remember, but when the Eagles first hit the scene, they were thought by many to be a Poco-wannabe band. Listen to this set and you'll hear ...

Released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of the first Doors album, THE VERY BEST OF THE DOORS supercedes all former Doors compilations. At two discs and 34 tracks, this is quite comprehensive for a band whose key lineup released only half a dozen albums. In addition to all the expected hits like "Light My Fire," "Hello I Love You," and "Roadhouse Blues," this compilation delves much deeper into the catalogue with fan favorites such as "Not To Touch the Earth" and "Wishful Sinful," as well as a handful of previously obscure rarities. Remastered and newly remixed by original engineer Bruce ...
| | Clyde McPhatter Mercury Sessions CD (1996)
Ten Million Dollars CD music
$10.69 The title is a sort of catch-all, and a misnomer, as this CD doesn't even attempt to represent a cross-section of McPhatter's work on Mercury Records -- but the CD itself is golden. Eleven of the 14 tracks are taken from McPhatter's 1964 vintage Live at the Apollo album, and show him in surprisingly good form, backed by a band that's just a little bigger than it probably needed to have been. None of that detracts ...

One of the great pioneers of hip-hop and contemporary dance music, Afrika Bambaataa made a contribution to the evolution of urban music that cannot be overestimated. With his innovative blend of funk, European electronica, turntable wizardry, and party-style, tag-team rapping (Bambaataa often invited groups of MCs to grace his tracks, such as the Jazzy 5 ["Jazzy Sensation"] and Soul Sonic Force ["Zulu Nation Throwdown"]), Bambaataa's cutting edge sound has influenced contemporary rap, rock, and electronica. LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT BEAT 1980-1985 collects Bambaataa's most defining moments, including ...
